This is the second day in a row getting a call regarding this exact same issue. Yesterday was on my cell phone as Unknown and now today my home phone using this number. Seemed very legitimate, especially on yesterdays call. Just a few word choices that perked my ears. Said they were calling about a case in my county circuit court. We have no circuit courts here. Said they were a process server yet their phone number is in Atlanta, GA and I'm in CA. CA does't licence Process Servers from outside the state. Also said that if I wasn't there to sign it would be noted as a willful intent and the case would proceed without me. This was also not true. CA state law says they have to leave a copy at my home if I'm not there and follow up with a mailed copy. I don't have the transcription from yesterday on my cell phone because it was too lengthy but I did keep a voice copy of it. Here is the transcript from today's call on my home number.
"This message is solely intended for John(?) this is Debbie Elvia. I previously attempted to notify you of the certified documents that scheduled for service and signature I provided you the filing party's office information for any questions at this time I have not heard from the filing party with the status change now be attempting service of these documents at your residence or place of employment. Once again if you do have any questions or need any further information in regards to this process you need to directly contact the filing party's office. Their phone number listed here in your packet is 713-257-9982. You'll need to provide file number 10592.key this message serves your secondary notification. Thank you."
The phone number listed for the "filing party" is a personal phone number in Houston and leads to a residence, nothing business at all.
