I fell for a telephone scam from people impersonating the Sheriff\'s department and paid money to them via Paypal. They had me pay through Friends and Family. I was not aware of the rule for Paypal. I was able to stop the payment before Paypal took the money. Now Paypal is threatening to send me to collections for not paying. I have a police report saying the person who took the money is a criminal and Paypal does not care. My bank is also involved. Paypal is threatening to send me to Collections which will lower my credit score. I am wondering if there is anything that can be done.
someone hacked into my account and purchased 1500 dollars in crypto using my chase bank account through Paypal. I filed dispute claims with Paypal and Chase. Chase reviewed the case and resolved the matter in my favor and provided me a refund of 1500 dollars. Chase confirmed that any temproary credit given for this would be permanent and the case would be resolved in my favor. After this, Paypal closed the claim on their end and ruled in the \"seller\'s favor\" and says I need to pay them back the 1500 dollars that Chase bank granted back to me in my favor since the person who tookt eh money used Anydesk accessed my desktop obtained credit debit card bank account information and carried out transactions on my account without my consent and bought crypto which I filed a case and stopped it with my bank before the person could transfer the crypto to my account. Chase ruled in my favor and permanently granted me credit of 1500 and Paypal is asking me to pay them back the credit which Chase granted me and is attempting to collect it as a debt and calls me daily at 888-895-5705. Paypal argues that the case was resolved in Sellers favor . When I show them the dispute resolution as it is on my Chase account, they write that it is a random letter and they cannot accept that and Paypal resolved it in the sellers favor so I need to pay them 1500 dollars or pay them back the money that was taken from me as a scam.
They called me four times, but my English is not so good, I am afraid I can not understand what they said, so I didn\'t answer the phone, but I was surprised by the phone call, oh, I only use paypal for online shopping, So I didn\'t answer the phone, but I was wondering about this phone call, I only use paypal for online shopping, why is there a debt collection phone to call me.
I sent a friend 40 dollars through paypal while i was speaking to her over the phone made sure she recieved it checked that I was now minus 40 dollars in my bank account and we continued talking and went throughtout the day. Now paypal is saying I need to pay them 40. For what? Using them as a way to give my friend some grocery money? She recieved the 40 and I gave her it and it was removed from my funds so I know they sent it to her. I\'m just curious where this 40 dollars I owe suddenly came up.
Here is the letter I have sent to Paypal which pretty much describes my current situation which I would love to consult with you about.

RE: REFUND REQUEST for Fraudulent Charges dated 4/5/2023 on Venmo Account; Venmo Credit Card, and PayPal Account
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing you to request a complete refund of all funds that you allowed to be paid to two of your “authorized customers” who clearly were scammers. I also request that all accounts under my name be cleared to a zero balance, and not have a negative impact on my outstanding credit score.
I contacted all three of your customer service departments and reported the fraud immediately at 3 hours and 44 minutes after I hung up with the scammer. I finished these calls to you in 1 ½ hours. At the time I notified each of you that a fraud had just occurred the transactions were still showing as “pending” and I was assured that all involved accounts were immediately frozen.
This fraud I refer to is called “Tech Support Fraud” by the FBI in their Public Service Announcement I-032818-PSA @www.FBI.gov. and boy have I learned my lesson. I treated Google (which is another big company I have a complaint with) like the old fashion yellow pages. I looked up the phone number using Google and low and behold the scammer appeared as “Facebook technical support” in the top 5 postings on Google.
I now understand that for enough money you can buy yourself advertisement as an expert in any field; no cross checking will be done. A mistake I will never repeat.
What will make me whole financially is the following:
Venmo Credit Card Account #8899 – Needs to be credited $1,000.
Venmo Account Karen-Cologgi @ 1-330-766-9388 – Needs to be credited $1,496.
PayPal Cash Balance Account – KCAntique&Collect@Aol.com – Needs to be credited $1,081.87.
Citi@/AAdantage@Gold World Elite MC #1442 – Needs to be credited $7,409.84.
I have included a copy of my two police reports and my FBI report filed at IC3.gov. I have a 2” thick book with all my documentation; along with my phone records confirming the actual times I called you.
You had enough warning from me to have stopped this fraud from occurring. I don’t know why you chose them over me…but believe me they are the fraudsters; not me.

Hello Peyton. How often are you getting the calls and at what times are they coming through. The law protects consumers from harassment by debt collectors and it is very specific on what constitutes harassment. We can discuss this further when I give you a call. Thanks, Mike

Hi Kristian. At what times are you getting the calls? Debt collectors are permitted to call on any day of the week, they are not permitted to harass you with their calls, however. We can talk more about this when I give you a call. Thanks, Mike

Hi Gigi. If you're unsure about this debt, you are smart to not pay it without first confirming that it is legitimate, especially if they have your identification and social security numbers. Let's talk more about this, I will be in touch. Thanks, Mike
I got a call from credit card solutions regarding the account that they claimed I had back in 2014 with Paypal and I owe to them $111. They have my social security and my other identification. I am concerned.
That number keeps blowing my phone up its annoying. I dont even know how Paypal would let me go into debt $200+!?
Million of received calls from this number, they doesn't even have my social security on their system.
No proofs, anything.
Have gotten multiple calls including 3 in a row on Saturday morning!
Had a paypal cash debt card but went with another company when my card started having charges I new nothing about. I called to have the account closed, i thought it was when i found a negative of over $2400. I called them up and was told if would take up to 75 days to solve the problem but keep getting a call from 8888955705
888-895-5705 has called 26 times in the last 5 days
“PayPal” keeps calling me even though on their website it says that they will never call you. They just keep harassing me.
I get 3-4 calls everyday from the same number. 888-895-5705

Charged about $1000 to a new American Express card and called to request to freeze the account to stop incurring late charges. Paid $150 a month to get rid of the balance but they continued to charge a late fee even more than $150 each month. They finally stopped the late fees but not before the balance reached over $2000. The collection agency has contacted my parents, my brother (in Florida), and those are the only ones that I know of. I have asked them for a statement from Amex and told them what I've just written. They haven't stopped calling.
I asked to stop ccx calling they are calling 7 times a day
(888) 895-5705 began calling me 3/25/2020 (yesterday). They've called me over 10 times already. Im not submitting a complaint now to obtain money. Im just simply informing. They're harassing another person.
I got a call from this phone no. Saying paypal and want to get personal info
The number 888-895-5705 (PayPal) has called me 6 times in the last 48 hours.
I have gotten 7 calls since Thursday from +18888955705. They are trying to collect a debt caused by unauthorized access of my Google Pay. I have a lawyer helping me sue Google in small claims court so if any of that info will help I will gladly share it
I received a call today from this phone number about 20 minutes ago from a lady stating I had a negative balance - yet she didn't look into my account nor did she seem to have any understanding of my account. She did talk down to me and was rude and brought up her alternative facts as to the state of my account. She was ill informed and made substantial threats toward my PayPal account that I have had for over 20 years. Upon looking at this phone number - they are calling numbers I don't have listed with PayPal and they have called everyday 5 times in the last 5 days. But they are calling a unlisted number so I only just answered - no voicemails left. And I really don't know if they are going to move forward with these threats - they clearly don't have my account info correct and that is scary.
This number has called me 13x in the last 6 days. It’s from PayPal. I have tried to ask them to stop calling me but it’s not working because my phone number brings up an account that isn’t in my name. It belongs to someone else & they won’t let me remove the number from their account because that would be making “unauthorized changes” without permission or some crap. It’s called 3x today alone. Every time it calls me it leaves a voicemail, which is even more annoying because every voicemail is exactly 2 seconds of dead silence and that’s it! Why won’t they leave me alone!?

Please email how this works. PayPal emails 1 or more times every day. I never answer but annoying
Has called over 40 times and I don't answer it
