I submitted this complaint to your firm last week and haven't heard back so I'm sending again to make sure you received it. On March 27, 2021 I moved from Norwalk, CT to Princeton, NJ. I had been an Optimum customer in CT for 2 years. On the day of the move I drove to my nearest Optimum store to return my cable box but it was closed "due to COVID". Of course, all stores had been cleared to open by that time but Optimum was closed. A sign on the door said to visit their Bridgeport store, a 30-minute drive from my home. I couldn't because my movers were on their way. I called Optimum and, after a 20-minute wait on hold, was told that it was OK to leave the cable box in the apartment I was vacating which is what I did. I soon received a $285 invoice for the box. Also, my last bill had a $20 fee for phone service. I never had nor did I ever use Optimum phone service. I had asked them multiple times to remove this charge from my monthly account but every month, there it was. As a result, I started receiving daily calls from Sunrise Credit Services and am concerned about this affecting my credit. Thank you for your help. Dan

The day I moved from CT to NJ (March 27 2021), I went to my local Optimum store to return my cable box. It was closed "due to COVID". A sign on the door told me to go to the nearest Optimum store in Bridgeport, a 30-minute drive. I had movers coming and couldn't do that. I called Optimum and, after a 20-minute wait due to "unusually high call volume", I spoke with a representative who told me it was OK to leave the cable box in my apartment at 1 Pine St, Apt 4, Norwalk, CT 06854. Soon after, I started getting harassing mail and phone calls demanding that I pay $285 for the cable box plus $20 for phone service that I never ordered or used. This was a monthly ritual with Optimum. At some point in 2020 they started billing me for phone service, I would call and tell them to remove the charge and the charge would reappear the next month.

These people call all day. Doesn’t matter the time. You pick up and the say nothing. Calling my cell phone. Doesn’t stop. Super annoying

Hi Ismael. Debt collectors can call up until 9pm but the are not permitted to call prior to 8am. If you have proof that they've called you that early, can you send it over to my office? I'd like to review them and I'll give you a call. Thanks, Mike

Hi Peter. There is no law against debt collectors calling you on the weekends, unfortunately. You can make them stop calling you on any day, however. This includes telling them to stop calling and sending a certified cease and desist letter. You can also tell them to provide you with a debt validation letter. I have been getting multiple calls day from Jasmine regarding cablevision Never sent a letter . Asked multiple times to send me a letter . She was extremely rude and hung up on me twice . I asked her to please send the letter back out and she refused. I told her I need the letter to provide to Verizon for payment and she hung up on me . Cablevision never sent me a final bill and must have put me right to collections. They call me multiple times a day even very late at night.
