I helped my mom lease some furniture from K-Mart around 2015-16 timeframe. I had autopay set up and it was only supposed to be taken out for about six months. Unfortunately my mom did not retain the paperwork but I called the company after payments continued to be withdrawn 12 months and was unable to speak with anyone. I called my bank (Chase) to report it as fraud and they said they couldn't help me because I had signed to lease the furniture and I would have to work that out with them (K-Mart, or the company WHYNOTLEASEIT). What I ended up doing because I couldn't get any cooperation from anyone, is I stopped having my paycheck deposited in that account and allowed it to go into overdraft. I regret that decision as it has not helped my credit, but in addition to that, I now have them calling my cell phone (a completely different number then I had back in 2016) and I'm not even the one who leased this furniture, I just put my bank info down for the autopay! I feel that I was taken advantage of and I'm still frustrated that I was unable to get assistance from anyone when I needed it.
