Massive Interest Rates

Numerous clients have issued complaints against Cash 1’s substantial interests even for customers with zero payments missed. Specifically, people have complained about being issued interests resulting in up to four times their actual loans. In 2021, Illinois has issued a bill capping most interest rates at 36% of consumer loans.

Measly Maximum Loans

Cash 1 leaves its borrowers in a bind with their scanty loans and enormous interest rates. With the pandemic around, customers are forced to collateral even their cars but are offered scraps. Others were offered lower amounts than their initial loans despite virtuous payments.

Misleading Offers

Cash 1 agents have also reportedly enticed clients with specific loans, only to change their offers during the actual applications e.g. offering this type of loan and then shifting to another when the applicant comes in to avail the loan. These types of misleading loans exploit the fact that people get strapped for cash before payday and especially with the layoffs.

Obscure Loans

Another point of issue for customers is the unclear loan details. Upon being asked to explain the interest rates and missing principal balance based on the receipt issued, associates of Cash 1 were unable to rectify the numbers. Customers were left without knowing the interests they were paying vis-à-vis the principal balance.

Poor Customer Service

According to complaints against Cash 1, their customer service representatives have been rude and unhelpful to multiple clients, leaving some embarrassed after their interactions and forcing others to abort the transaction to conclude their undignified treatment. Others said that they have had agents agree on assisting them during phone calls, but have failed to do so upon meeting resulting in unfinished transactions and dissatisfied customers.

Unfortunately, these complaints are just the beginning for Cash 1, LLC. Between massive interest rates, cheap maximum loans, deceptive offers, charge discrepancies, and poor customer service, Cash 1, LLC’s customers are left wondering what options they have regarding their consumer rights.

Here’s How to Make Big Companies Listen

It can be frustrating when you rely on a service and don’t get the results you’ve paid for. Big companies make mistakes every day and not only is it their fault, but it can also cost you money, time, and leave you with big headaches.

Have you tried calling Cash 1, LLC to address an issue, only to be told that the representative has no authority to do so? Or maybe you’ve tried talking to someone higher up in the company, only to be ignored, dismissed, or they take too long, continuing to waste your precious time. Maybe you’ve sent an email to the company which only resulted in a prefabricated response or they never follow through with what they’ve promised.

When you’re limited in your choices for service providers or you’re locked into a contract, what can you do?

Fortunately, you do have options.

Use Arbitration to Settle Your Complaint

Most companies like Cash 1, LLC have an arbitration clause in their contracts to prevent being taken to court for traditional litigation. This is actually an advantage for the consumer. When you request an arbitration hearing, an independent third-party (the arbitrator) with knowledge of the type of situation involved will listen to the facts from both sides and make an impartial, binding decision. Cash 1, LLC will have to do a lot of work and there is no guarantee that they will have a successful outcome.

Arbitration is Fast, Inexpensive, and Private

Arbitration with Cash 1, LLC is conducted through the American Arbitration Association (AAA). According to the AAA Consumer Due Process Protocol, arbitration through AAA will comply with their Statement of Principles, which includes:

  • The process is fundamentally fair – All parties are entitled to qualified, competent, impartial arbitrators who will conduct a fair hearing.
  • You get access to all relevant information – This includes reasonable costs, confidentiality, reasonable time limits, and meeting times and/or locations that are agreeable to both parties.
  • Transparency – AAA provides clear arbitration agreements and the ability for each side to hire their own representation.
  • Just process – Arbitration allows the arbitrator to award the same relief as traditional litigation in a binding decision.
  • Alternative to arbitration – Mediation and the ability to take the case to small claims court should be available in some cases.

Arbitration Gives you Control and Leverage

When Cash 1, LLC is alerted that you plan to pursue arbitration, they know it will cost them money out of pocket. Not only do they run the risk of losing the case, but they will also pay for their mistake(s) and the arbitration itself. This gives you more leverage with your demands.

If Cash 1, LLC doesn’t meet those demands and you have a real complaint, Mike Agruss Law can help by representing you in arbitration where you will get a fair, just, and transparent hearing.

Control and Leverage Triggers Faster Settlements

Large companies like Cash 1, LLC don’t like the uncertainty and loss of control that comes with arbitration. Not only do they lose the advantage in the situation, but you’re also on equal footing with them in the eyes of arbitration.

The first step in taking on Cash 1, LLC is to formally raise your complaint. The lawyers at Mike Agruss Law can help you to do so. We will send a letter of demands to the corporate offices of Cash 1, LLC, letting them know that you’re ready to begin arbitration if a satisfactory resolution is not achieved. Typically, this is 30 days, but it will depend on your specific contract with Cash 1, LLC.

Approximately 50% of cases will settle before proceeding to an arbitration hearing during this time. However, if Cash 1, LLC doesn’t offer a reasonable settlement within the appropriate time frame, the next step would be filing a case with AAA. Mike Agruss Law will not only put together the necessary paperwork for arbitration, but we will also help you take the next steps in the arbitration process.

UDAAP and Arbitration

UDAAP is an acronym representing laws that prohibit Unfair, Deceptive, or Abusive Acts or Practices in the context of trade or business. This includes misrepresentation, deception, false advertising, or false promises. These laws emerged following the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act that was enacted in response to the 2008 financial crisis. The ultimate goal with these laws is geared towards protecting consumers involved in financial transactions, educating consumers on their rights, and allowing them access to information and resources to best inform their decisions.

UDAAP laws are regulated by two organizations, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The FTC expanded the initial UDAAP laws in 2004 to include unfair and deceptive acts and practices. Some standards for unfairness, in particular, include if it causes or is likely to cause substantial injury to consumers, the injury is not reasonably avoidable by consumers, and the injury is not outweighed by countervailing benefits to consumers or to competition.

Every state has UDAAP laws, which can vary widely. However, the lawyers at Mike Agruss Law understand these laws and can use them to get compensation for deceptive practices, representing consumers throughout the country in cases of arbitration at no cost to them. The company will not only pay the consumer, but they will also pay my fees as well. The consumer will never pay me a cent.

If you’re dealing with an issue with Cash 1, LLC, you might try filing a complaint with the BBB or the customer service team with Cash 1, LLC. Unfortunately, these avenues won’t always lead to a successful resolution for you, the customer. Instead, you may want to consider an experienced arbitration lawyer to take on your case.

Arbitration is a very useful tool for resolving disputes, and Mike Agruss Law can help. With our expert guidance, we bring the big companies to the table and provide the support needed to get your bills corrected, credit reports fixed, improper fees refunded, and more. Let us pick up the sword for you; you have nothing to lose.

How Do I File a Complaint Against Cash 1, LLC?

I originally took a out a loan due to financial hardship and highly regret my decision. For years, I have paid over 600 dollars a month and I feel like I will never get out of this loan. I fell behind on a few payments and as I recently attempted to pay extra on principle, I was informed that all extra payments will only be applied to interest due to late payments. Cash 1 does not try and help there consumers and totally scamming consumers with its high interest rate. I have already paid 10,741 dollars and had only borrowed 5,000 in 2022. I am charged a high interest daily and as of today total balance owed is 6067.91. It makes absolutely no sense to pay almost 17,000 dollars for a 5,000 dollar loan. I would like help with this.

I took a loan from Cash 1 and paid off my initial loan. Then I had to move across the country to my hometown because the cost of living was too high and I had to come home and help take care of my aging parents. I received legal documents saying I was being sued for non payment. Cash 1 then emailed me saying it’s not too late and I could call them to reach an agreement. I called and was transferred to another department. They told me a person named Elaine would call me back within the hour. I wanted an entire day and never heard from Cash 1. That was on 12/18/23. The lawsuit must be answered by 1/7/24 and I believe they lied to me and are attempting to let the time run out. The amount of the lawsuit is triple the amount of the initial loan. I feel like I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place because I’m trying to reach an agreement before this goes to court but they won’t even respond. Also on the lawsuit the paperwork claims I’m married to a John Doe and I’ve never been married. The information is sketchy and they are deliberately avoiding calling me back

Hello, a couple years ago I took out a cash one loan. At first it started with a couple hundred. I had paid every payment on time. They always bombarded me with texts telling me I could take out more. I was in a rough position due to the pandemic that I eventually caved in. I was still keeping up with payments until I unexpectedly lost my job. I tried to call to push a couple payments back to not get my phone shut off and pay my rent but even though they agreed they kept charging my card. I ended up pulling my card information after that. I defaulted on the loan. By the time I got back on my feet I to pay them back my loan grew 3x the original amount I took out. They occasionally send me court threats through voicemail and texting. They have offered me to settle a couple times before but being as sketchy as they are I don\'t trust dealing with them alone because I\'m not educated on how to approach a situation like that with people who don\'t keep their word. I\'m not sure where to go from here without some legal guidance

I need help regarding Cash1 and their predatory lending practices. It doesn’t matter how much you pay the balance never drops. After multiple payments you get about 20-30 dollars in available credit and the company hounds you to renew your loan. They prey on people in bad financial situations. I filed a CFPB complaint and Cash1 offered a settlement type of payment plan. I still cannot afford it and need help. I have been making payments for a year or so and the balance just keeps rising or remaining the same each time. Please advise if there is anything I can do.

Cash 1 was a lender for me and predatory, each time a payment went through towards principle the minimum payment would increase from the last time. I had a final loan to be paid off and I sent in the remaining balance on payment, they continued to bill me twice past the outstanding balance. Futhermore, would harass me persistently about any payment no matter if I was up to date on my account.

We defaulted on a loan with cash1 last year, listed them with the debt settlement company we were working but for unknown reasons, the debt settlement company dropped them from the program. So we still have the debt. We\'ve never received anything from Cash 1 until we received a lawsuit filed in Maricopa County. Last week, we spoke with Cash1 contact Faye, and we agreed on a payment plan and were waiting for the documents(some type of stipulated judgement, to sign and start payments immediated. When it came it was twice the amount monthly that we agreed upon. We called her and she was hostile (as always) and basically told us we were lying about the amounts and time frame we agreed upon. She also stated she knew we were lying because she recorded the call. We asked to to hear it and she said she had to ask the lead litigator but if we did not agree to pay and sign immediately, there were going forward with the judgement and then garnish our pay.

I have been a customer who have paid on time. I ended up in the hospital and my job reduced my hours. Then, my 16 year old was hospitalized. Cash1 representatives would text me to call them but when I did call, no one would answer. They would not lower my payments based upon my new pay check and had the proof to show them as well as medical documentation. I asked to settle and they would not. They said that I would need to make the minimum payment on the loan. Interest rates were massive. They also filed a lawsuit in which I received documentation from the court stating \"It is ordered no action will be taken by this division on the aboved-referenced documents. They are trying to get a default judgement, but they won\'t even work with me. My last resort is to file bankruptcy to stop these people.
