Refunding Issues
An extensive number of Etsy consumers have complained about the company’s refunding issues. According to complaints, a hefty number of consumers have paid for products that never came or were clearly damaged prior to shipping. Upon requesting assistance with the refund, Etsy, Inc’s consumers were slapped with the company’s Buyer Policy which essentially frees them from culpability in case of buyer-seller disputes despite conducting business in their platform.
Fraudulent Account Activities
Other buyers have reported alarming activities in their accounts, including sudden email changes and unauthorized purchases and charges. Many of the complainants troubleshot by reaching out to customer service but were met with radio silence for days and weeks on end. Their last resort was to file complaints with the Better Business Bureau.
Account Suspensions
Both buyers and sellers detailed being locked out from their Etsy accounts. Some received notifications requiring further documentation to verify their accounts but despite supplementation, were met with account restrictions. Some sellers were forced out of their accounts and were made to refund ongoing transactions despite providing required papers and IDs.
Dismal Customer Service
Sellers and buyers alike are criticizing Etsy, Inc for the company’s poor customer relations. The company took days, if not weeks, before responding to emails and was incredibly hard to get in touch with due to their offshore customer agents. Even with consumers filing complaints with the BBB, Etsy, Inc had merely sent complaints the same generic disclaimer per its Buyer Policy, holding them unaccountable for basically nothing.
Unfortunately, refund problems, fraudulent activities, account suspensions, and lousy customer relations complaints are just the beginning for Etsy, Inc. The company’s customers are left wondering what options they have regarding their consumer rights.
We Fix Complaints When Customer Service Won’t
Has Etsy, Inc used misleading sales tactics? Have you received poor service? Do you have complaints with billing? Do you want customer service at Etsy, Inc to listen?
A lot of Etsy, Inc Corporation customers aren’t happy with their service and the Better Business Bureau lists 1,299 customer complaints against the company in the past three years, including complaints for billing and collections practices, problems with a service/product, advertising and sales, among others.

We’ll not only file your legal demands with Etsy, Inc, we’ll negotiate with the company. If your claim isn’t resolved through these negotiations, we’ll work through the legal process that is outlined in your Etsy, Inc contract, which is typically arbitration.
America’s Consumer Lawyer gets results–including zero balances, refunds, and other compensation.
Here’s How to Make Big Companies Listen
It can be frustrating when you rely on a service and don’t get the results you’ve paid for. Big companies make mistakes every day and not only is it their fault, it can cost you money, time, and leave you with big headaches.
Have you tried calling Etsy, Inc to address an issue, only to be told that the representative has no authority to do so? Or maybe you’ve tried talking to someone higher up in the company, only to be ignored, dismissed, or they take too long, continuing to waste your precious time. Maybe you’ve sent an email to the company which only resulted in a prefabricated response or they never follow through with what they’ve promised.
When you’re limited in your choices for service providers or you’re locked into a contract, what can you do?
Fortunately, you do have options.
Use Arbitration to Settle Your Complaint
Most companies like Etsy, Inc have an arbitration clause in their contracts to prevent being taken to court for traditional litigation. This is actually an advantage for the consumer. When you request an arbitration hearing, an independent third party (the arbitrator) with knowledge of the type of situation involved will listen to the facts from both sides and make an impartial, binding decision. Etsy, Inc will have to do a lot of work and there is no guarantee that they will have a successful outcome.
Arbitration is Fast, Inexpensive, and Private
Arbitration with Etsy, Inc is conducted through the American Arbitration Association (AAA). According to the AAA Consumer Due Process Protocol, arbitration through AAA will comply with their Statement of Principles, which includes:
- The process is fundamentally fair – All parties are entitled to qualified, competent, impartial arbitrators who will conduct a fair hearing.
- You get access to all relevant information – This includes reasonable costs, confidentiality, reasonable time limits, and meeting times and/or locations that are agreeable to both parties.
- Transparency – AAA provides clear arbitration agreements and the ability for each side to hire their own representation.
- Just process – Arbitration allows the arbitrator to award the same relief as traditional litigation in a binding decision.
- Alternative to arbitration – Mediation and the ability to take the case to small claims court should be available in some cases.
Arbitration Gives you Control and Leverage
When Etsy, Inc is alerted that you plan to pursue arbitration, they know it will cost them money out of pocket. Not only do they run the risk of losing the case, but they will also pay for their mistake(s) and the arbitration itself. This gives you more leverage with your demands.
If Etsy, Inc doesn’t meet those demands and you have a real complaint, America’s Consumer Lawyer can help by representing you in arbitration where you will get a fair, just, and transparent hearing.
Control and Leverage Triggers Faster Settlements
Large companies like Etsy, Inc don’t like the uncertainty and loss of control that comes with arbitration. Not only do they lose the advantage in the situation, but you’re also on equal footing with them in the eyes of arbitration.
The first step in taking on Etsy, Inc is to formally raise your complaint. The lawyers at America’s Consumer Lawyer can help you to do so. We will send a letter of demands to the corporate offices of Etsy, Inc, letting them know that you’re ready to begin arbitration if a satisfactory resolution is not achieved. Typically, this is 30 days, but it will depend on your specific contract with Etsy, Inc.
Approximately 50% of cases will settle before proceeding to an arbitration hearing during this time. However, if Etsy, Inc doesn’t offer a reasonable settlement within the appropriate time frame, the next step would be filing a case with AAA. America’s Consumer Lawyer will not only put together the necessary paperwork for arbitration, but we will also help you take the next steps in the arbitration process.
UDAAP and Arbitration
UDAAP is an acronym representing laws that prohibit Unfair, Deceptive, or Abusive Acts or Practices in the context of trade or business. This includes misrepresentation, deception, false advertising, or false promises. These laws emerged following the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act that was enacted in response to the 2008 financial crisis. The ultimate goal with these laws is geared towards protecting consumers involved in financial transactions, educating consumers on their rights, and allowing them access to information and resources to best inform their decisions.
UDAAP laws are regulated by two organizations, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The FTC expanded the initial UDAAP laws in 2004 to include unfair and deceptive acts and practices. Some standards for unfairness, in particular, include if it causes or is likely to cause substantial injury to consumers, the injury is not reasonably avoidable by consumers, and the injury is not outweighed by countervailing benefits to consumers or to competition.
Every state has UDAAP laws, which can vary widely. However, the lawyers at America’s Consumer Lawyer understand these laws and can use them to get compensation for deceptive practices, representing consumers throughout the country in cases of arbitration at no cost to them. The company will not only pay the consumer, but they will also pay my fees as well. The consumer will never pay me a cent.
If you’re dealing with an issue with Etsy, Inc, you might try filing a complaint with the BBB or the customer service team with Etsy, Inc. Unfortunately, these avenues won’t always lead to a successful resolution for you, the customer. Instead, you may want to consider an experienced arbitration lawyer to take on your case.
Arbitration is a very useful tool for resolving disputes, and America’s Consumer Lawyer can help. With our expert guidance, we bring the big companies to the table and provide the support needed to get your bills corrected, credit reports fixed, improper fees refunded, and more. Let us pick up the sword for you; you have nothing to lose.
How Do I File a Complaint Against Etsy, Inc?
We will use your state’s UDAAP law to file a complaint in Arbitration on your behalf at no cost to you. UDAAP laws include misrepresentation, deception, false advertising, or false promises. Under your state’s UDAAP law, you are likely entitled to money damages for your actual damages. Plus, the other side will pay our fees and costs. You will not pay us a penny.

I have been selling on Etsy for years and they just deactivated my listings due to policy violations. The same listings i have always sold. I sell keychains and fridge magnets shaped like bullets. They claim i am selling weapons. There are 1000s of listings on Etsy exactly like mine. I have appealed and spoke to 3 different customer service agents and all have said it is a weapon. This has happened a few times in the past because the bots see it as ammunition but Etsy has always reactivated them after reviewing. This time they will not, nor will they remove anyone elses listings of the exact same thing, only mine.
Etsy has permanently suspended my account for listing violations, which are not listing violations. I have listed the exact same products that other sellers are selling, but they closed my account. They have also kept my money from sales and listing fees.
I get so many scam calls that I hardly answer the phone. Please contact me by email or text
Hello,
I am a seller on Etsy and am considering requesting arbitration. Several times customers have opened cases for \"Not as described\" and Etsy refunds them without question. I have 20,000+ sales with over 4 million in revenue on Etsy in the past 3 years, and it is absolutely absurd that they are refunding people no questions asked. I also have thousands of positive reviews and take extra care to make sure my photos and descriptions are accurate.
etsy put my shop on vacation mode about 2 years ago and i found out there using my pictures of my hoods for big companys to get sales for them
I opened an Etsy shop in 2020 to sell embroidered patches and vinyl stickers. From 2020 to 2025, my Etsy shop had 145,700 visits, made 7,959 sales, made $58,353.01 in gross revenue, and had a 5-star review rating. Sometime prior to 2025, Etsy changed its Prohibited Items Policy to \"prohibit realistic items that identify the wearer as an active law enforcement, military, or government official.\" Two of my active listings were for police ID patches. On July 10, 2025, I received an e-mail from Etsy with the subject, \"Etsy account closed.\" Etsy apparently closed my account due to purported Policy violations. I removed all of my active listings and attempted to file numerous appeals, but they were all either ignored or denied by Etsy. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, but the BBB received no response from Etsy. I reached out to Etsy Help Center numerous times, but I received no response from Etsy. I even paid a third-party provider $200 reach out to Etsy on my behalf, without success. Etsy\'s website states, \"Suspensions are definitely not something we take lightly, and we hope to be able to work with you to resolve the issue.\" However, it is clear that Etsy will not \"work with [me] to resolve the issue\" and never had any intention of considering any appeal, because Etsy closed my account on July 10, 2025. I am at my wit\'s end, and Etsy\'s customer service - or lack thereof - is atrocious!
Please let me know how much you charge. thanks
We have been \"permanently suspended\" from Etsy after building a business on the site for 16 years, no explanation of any substance, appeals denied 3 times. Perhaps you can help us, can we discuss? Bob Kitchener, Pres Dangerous Threads, Inc Ph 615.828.8632
Problem with Etsy. Need to go to Arbitration--we will be the plaintiffs. Problem: Illegal suspension of account resulting in lost revenue. Multiple problems stemming from Etsy.
Etsy closed our shop over 6 months ago saying we violated their creativity standards. We are a manufacturer of handmade products. We are exactly who Etsy wants selling on their platform. Everything we do is handmade and personalized. Appeal after appeal is ignored. I have lost easily over 75K in sales beacause of this. We had over 2000 feedbacks and a 5 star rating. We need any help that you may provide, if you can. My company is Perfect Cases, Inc.

Etsy permanently suspended my five star seller account NitestarCollectibles which had been active over five years. My account was breached by unauthorized hacker activity that occurred from foreign IP incursions on March 31st, 2025. These hacker incursions occurred while I was recovering from major surgery at Northwestern Memorial Hospital that took place on March 28th, 2025. The emails Etsy sent indicating reporting the foreign IP incursions on March 31st were not available to me as I did not have access to the email account linked to my storefront on my IPhone. It was upon my discharge from the hospital after I returned home on April 6, 2025 that I discovered Etsy’s emails inquiring about the logins from foreign IPs from an Amazon Datacenter on an Android Phone and then from a Windows 10 Chrome Device in Germany… well I am in Chicago Illinois so it wasn’t me and they know my address so it’s clear these were hackers infiltrating my account to commit fraud through my storefront. I also had two factor phone authentication active, which meant anyone requesting to change or restore a forgotten password would need to receive a phone call to my telephone, with a passcode to proceed making changes to my account. I never received a notification phone call related to this secure verification which would have alerted me that hackers were attempting access to my account. I have filed an appeal against the permanent suspension twice, including my shop information and evidence of my incapacitation at the hospital, with no confirmation of receipt from Etsy nor attempts by them to contact me to help reverse this. As Etsy abandoned its live phone support numbers, I have now become victim to a third party destroying my business with Etsy’s assistance, and have had the income earning abilities I depend on as a disabled shop owner trying to supplement my income taken away when I did nothing wrong. Etsy has breached its responsibilities to me as a shop owner whose data they also hold.
Etsy closed every account I open then every month sends me a false email that shows new emails and how many ppl visit my site but the page has been deactivated/deleted
Hi,
I am an Etsy seller for years. I am selling pajamas from Hong Kong. Etsy has been sending payment to me regularly without any problem for several years. Last year Etsy asked me to confirm my credit card number and my finance setting again including bank account details. I input my bank account details exactly same like what I usually used. It is corporate bank account (not personal account). Since then, Etsy failed to send me payment. The amount now is around HK$53,000. I tried to contact them for the last 1 year but nobody attended my case. I really need your help on this. Thank you

I\'m an sculptor and I had a store on Etsy until December 25th of last year, when my account was hacked from Russia. As a result of this incident, Etsy permanently closed my store without offering me a solution or the possibility of recovery, despite my multiple attempts to appeal and contact them.
I have researched and found that other users in a similar situation have resolved their issue by sending a written notice to the company\'s headquarters in Brooklyn, stating that if they do not offer a solution, they will initiate arbitration. I am interested in learning about your fees and service conditions for this type of case.
I live in Spain, by the way. Thanks in advance!
I have a seller account on Etsy, I changed phones and had to get a new phone number. Etsy billing reached out to me because they couldn\'t charge my card, so I attempted to address the issue by adding another payment option. I entered my sign-in information, and I get a notice that I\'m going to get a code via text message. The text is going to the old phone number. I attempt to contact them to let them know I am trying to resolve the payment issue, but I now have an issue with being unable to access my account because they want to send a code to the old number, I never received a response to help resolve the issue. I tried multiple times to get help, they kept saying I had to contact support, but in order to contact support I have to logon to my account, which I can\'t do. They are still charging me the monthly fee and no one has helped me gain access to my store. At this point I can\'t even cancel or close my store. I don\'t know what else I can do.
My account was suspended after supplying the required documents. Etsy then charged my store thousand for refunds that included a large number of already fulfilled orders. they have now charged my card for 800 dollars when they owe me 1,300.
Etsy is refusing to deposit over $1,700 in Seller income payment funds, to allow for deposit into bank account.
My name is Timas Ancius. I\'ve tried emailing you a few weeks ago, I wanted to ask if your team is able to help with the following situation:
I myself am a seller on Etsy.com platform and my account last May got suspended for quote \"not meeting platforms policies\" although it is unclear what exactly. I did not receive any clarification from the platform, my funds that where help by Etsy got taken away too and I was left without my business online.
I submitted appeals, however, they were unsuccessful.
This situation has happened to me twice, and both times, I did not receive any clear reason as to why, as well as Etsy took away my funds that I got from selling on the platform.
I was referred to you by one of my friends who had issues with Meta and Instagram and you helped him regain access to his accounts. I would be interested to talk to you about this case, if you would potentially be able to regain access to my business online?
Thank you for consideration, my WhatsApp is +37066236710 , I am based in Lithuania.
Kindest regards,
Timas Ancius
My shop was shut down in the beginning of November without any explanation. Several weeks later I was told it was tax documents for which I had already updated at the time of putting my shop on vacation mode. I wrote them several times trying to find out what else I needed to do. I have almost 20,000 sales on their platform and the majority of those happen over the holidays. No response for weeks then they tell me I have a customer service issue after a month. Of course I do, I can\'t sell anything. I attempted to reach out several times a week throughout the holiday season via social media, email, their website, etc. Anyway I could. Nothing, not a single response. Today they send me an email stating they are permanently suspended my account and any other accounts I have on their platform. The email cannot be replied to, I cannot file an appeal, I reached out again via social media, their website, and email. Nothing. They are ruining my small business. This is the only income for my household. Something has to be done, they have a responsibility to respond to the sellers. I know I am not alone in this, there are a tone of top shops like mine that were shut down without explanation.
I am seeking to take Etsy into arbitration due to numerous violations of its own policies and numerous refunds they have given on my behalf
I live in canada and my company is in canada. my etsy account is closed and there is about 20k usd left in it and they are not giving it. no reason for closure. can you help.
Paid for item on Etsy that did not arrive . Etsy , seller and bank will not refund my money.
Etsy suspended my account after almost 10 years of being a successful seller, with no reason as to why and no warnings given. Etsy refuses to respond to any of my questions asking WHY they suspended my account.
Etsy refunded a customer by charging my credit card and didn’t even make the customer return the item! I am livid. Is it worth my time over a couple hundred dollars? Does it cost me to ask you these questions?
I feel that charging a credit card (which accrues interest) without giving me the option to use another form of payment is illegal. Not to mention, charging me without even letting me know and then closing my case before I have a chance to ask why?
However - that’s beside the point as I shouldn’t have even been charged in the first place. The customer lied and I have screenshots of our conversation to prove this. It is clear Etsy didn’t bother to review the messages. I have been given the run around “sorry I don’t have the authority to help you” and “let me send you over to another team”.
This is theft on a grand scale. They need to be punished.
Thank you
I am looking to submit a claim against Etsy
I started my Etsy shop 8/27/24. I’ve made 6 sales, and have yet to receive my proceeds from Etsy. There have been multiple “holds” applied (of which there were zero notifications). Now my funds are “available for deposit “ and have been for 3 days, but the deposit date keeps getting pushed to the next date. Again, there is no notification of the change in date of deposit, and no explanation as to why my funds haven’t been deposited. I don’t understand how this company continues to get away with their obvious scam.
During the last Investor Presentation for Q3 in the Q&A section Josh (Silverman - the CEO of Etsy) said Etsy will begin deactivating listings that have photos showing up on reseller sites (Temu, SHEIN, AliExpress) but he admitted that Etsy knows a lot of the photos on those sites are stolen from legit Etsy sellers and that a lot of innocent people on Etsy will end up getting shut down (he’s admitted this on video). I have had two listings (one has sold 28.9K $ over its lifetime, and the other 24.6K $) deactivated by Etsy due to photo theft. Etsy will not provide me a link to the photos they’ve found, or on which site, so I can’t send them my camera metadata as I don’t know which photo is in question. Etsy is terrorizing their sellers, and shutting down legitimate listings and shops. So many Etsy shops on the facebook pages and forums I am on are getting hit with these deactivations. (Etsy does not right-click disable their site so it is open for anyone to steal a listing photo – the site is not safe). I would really love to get involved in a class action regarding this issue.
Our Etsy store was shut down with over 9000 sales. My daughter went on maternity leave and the person we hired posted items that were not approved to be sold because of copyrights. We fired the person when we found out and started removing them but they closed and banned us from even starting any new stores. We tried reaching out to Etsy and the individuals who filed the complaints but had no luck. So we are trying to solve this issue if possible.
I have only been in business a few months. In that time I sold three items. But I noticed that Etsy wasn’t paying me so I deactivated everything in my store because they were charging me for “off site ads”. I didn’t ask for that. It has been well over a month now and they still have not paid me. I contacted customer service and got a complete runaround. On Aug. 28th I sent LinkedIn messages to their CFO - Rachel something and CMO - Raina Moskowitz. I still haven’t heard anything back from them. Today, I commented on one of their LI posts explaining this very situation.
Please help me get reinstated with my Etsy Shop. They suspended me on May 6. I have made my 8th appeal on August 23. It really has been an incrediable struggle. If you could help, I would much appreciate it. Thank you for your time and expertise.

Very large Etsy seller who’s shop keeps experiencing temporary holds on fund which has destroyed our multimillion dollar business and my personal credit. I gain reassurances from Etsy and they are never fulfilled. We are told repeatedly that funds will be released and they are not. This happens frequently.
Hello.
Etsy closed my shop on the platform. I was printing the designs I made on the PC on mats, not counting it as handicraft. They closed my account for not respecting copyrights in logos and because artificial intelligence warned me. I sold 3 mats in 1 year. They said they would pay me my 109 dollars after 180 days. Why they left it to the last day is a mystery. They were supposed to pay me half of this money and transferred it to me, and the half money was supposed to be paid out of the reserve when the product arrived. The wire transfer did not come. It came back. Now they have declared that they will illegally hold the reserve money with my money order for 180 days. I applied to the mediator, etsy inc, perceiving its bureaucratic language as an official order, wrote me that I could not solve the problem. I am an Alien living abroad but my company is in New York. Etsy stated that although I reported it, it deducted 20% k.d.v. and sent it to my country. That\'s a lie. I asked for an invoice, they show me an excell record in csv format. I complained about this situation to the relevant places. It was written in the contract that they can keep my money for 180 days. I searched and found it. Yes, there is such a statement, but I signed up in 2020, this update was made in 2020.It\'s not clear whether this update is before or after my membership. According to the provision that granted rights cannot be taken away, they have written everything into the contract to act as they please and evade all responsibilities. Is this how it should be? In 2023, I was scammed by copycat Etsy fraudsters on Etsy. Etsy caused this because there were no warnings. I filed a complaint with the New York Attorney General\'s Office, stating that Etsy was negligent. Only after that did they put up warnings. I want to get my $109 back from Etsy. I don\'t want to reopen my Etsy account. I will not return to this bad place, even if I knew I would become rich. Sincerely.
Etsy wrongfully suspended my acccount for no reason; i sell unique clothes and they won\'t reinstate my account . they are too big and have a monopoly and they are in violation of antitrust laws. I want a class action suit
Hi.
I a appeal in 22 and nothing still. I also been very sick and almost
died and finally got myself to fight and stay alive.
So I am back looking into this to see what is going on here and what
took place. I am praying someone can help me here. See below on what
took place and why the reason my account was taken down each claim has
been solved and removed and was caused by people lying about my company.
I just need help now that my health is back up and feeling better
When I was working on this there was no option to appeal before.
Now that I am back on there is one but I can not click on it.
Please help here.
So we have multiple infringement reports against us but each one has a
counter form on them and each one has been also been reported yesterday
eligible to relist on our store per the email of one of Etsy staff
member from the legal department.
After filing the correct procedure and filing a counter form, the other
parties never responded back. Each one was false reporting. If we are
able to relist each one of the items back on to our store, then we only
also ask to regain access to our account as well since this is the only
reason we were taking down in first place.
Please beware that there is no court action against our company and we
also followed company policy to fill out a counter form when we felt
like this was something that was a mistake or fraudulent reporting.
We simply ask for you to further look into this and see exactly where
each deactivated listing has a counter form fill out. After filing these
forms, no one came back to fight us in courT. The multiple reports that
were filed against us are now no longer valid and there is no
infringement CASE here or done by our store.
We kindly asked for our account back. This was a very unfair practice
from whoever did this to our store and made us suffer tremendously. We
ask you to please really look into this and see this was a mistake not
on our part but from whoever filed these false claims in the beginning.
They are the ones who should pay a penalty and they are the ones who
should get shut down from what they did to us. They are falsifying
reports and misusing your system which is against ETSY Policy. You are
probably also aware that this kind of practice is done alot on ETSY
platform. They do this to take down their competitors so that they can
incurred more sales. Thank you for taking your time out to read our
letter. Your time is appreciated
Hope to hear from you soon.
Bought something on Etsy and it was not delivered , can’t open a case number because the seller is a scam. Do you take cases like this? It was a $100 merchandise. Thank you
I have an etsy account that was suspended and subsequently terminated (post appeal) but I was not given a reason why. I\'m looking for assistance to help get information from etsy to hopefully fix whatever issues etsy is seeing with the hopes of getting my account reopened.
Etsy suspended an account with 600k$ in total sales. We were selling dtf transfers, all designs were bought within etsy\'s platform, however they considered some designs were infringing IP laws, although there is no way to tell if a specific design is trademarked or not. Need help !
Etsy took my money and is not allowing me access back to my shop. Customer service is horrible and is absolutely useless.
etsy has suspended my account with no explanation given. Additionally they are holding onto my money and have issued refunds on products that I have sold
Hello,
I have two Etsy storefronts that were suspensed without notice.
I never received any email or notification of a policy violation, and access to both these storefronts were blocked entirely.
This resulted in a painstaking effort to contact Etsy about the issue, as one typically can’t contact them without being logged into an account. Additionally, my customers were waiting for pending orders to be fulfilled, however this was not possible as I was unable to gain access to my own account.
After generic responses over the course of a few days, one of my storefronts was reopened, with Etsy acknowledging the store had been suspended in error, and no violation of any kind had occurred. No further explanation given.
This store remains inactive insofar as being able to advertise via Etsy Ads, something I have yet to hear back on the status of despite bringing to their attention numerous times.
Upon numerous other emails addressing this, as well as attempting to reopen the second storefront, I continue to receive the same generic copy/paste response from Etsy, typically taking 24 hours or more, or no response at all and a cold email thread.
What is most troubling is that in this second closed store, we are unable to obtain any CSVs for our own accounting purposes, leaving our business financially blind and unable to properly account for our own income/expenses. It goes without saying the loss in algorithmic momentum, customer drop-off, sales loss, customer wait, general frustration, stress incurred, confusion incurred, et cetera; all as a result of Company errors that have still failed to be rectified, leave me seeking restitution due to Company negligence.
i was a seller on etsy, my shop was banned and we lost a revenue of 15-20K per month. I need help. Thank you
Etsy suspended my store with reason which is not lead to me and I am fighting with etsy seen two month they are delcein again and again and dont listen to me
Esty permanently suspended my selling account that was in excellent standing and was my sole source of income. I did not violate any of their policies. I\'d like to use arbitration to settle my complaint as their customer service won\'t listen or help me.
Our account got suspended and we submitted an appeal which got rejected without any reasoning
Etsy keeps violating my listings for being in handmade but they aren’t they are all listed in the supply category as they specify. I’ve done over 300k a year in sales for over 4 years no issue now they tell me my supply isn’t a supply when in fact they have over 1 million search results for the same product we sell and hundreds if not thousands of sellers selling these blank crafting tumblers. This is a letter I wrote them and got a vague response I’m forced to shut my business down cause I’m scared they will suspend my account since the last violation they said they will. Just sent an email to Etsy Legal team Dear Etsy Legal Team, I am reaching out to seek immediate clarification and assistance regarding a series of issues we have encountered with Etsy\\\'s policies and account violations. Specifically, we are concerned about the classification of sublimation tumblers and blank craft supplies on Etsy, which has led to confusion and significant disruptions to our business operations. Over the past four years, our Etsy shop has successfully sold sublimation tumblers, which are integral to the crafting community. We have a substantial customer base, with over 34,000 sales amounting to over 300k in annual revenue. And over 6000 positive reviews from buyers. Despite our efforts to comply with Etsy\\\'s guidelines and classifications, we have faced repeated listing removals and warnings from the trust and safety team. We have diligently categorized our listings as supplies made by another company as recommended by Etsy\\\'s policy. However, we continue to receive contradictory messages from Etsy support, with some acknowledging that blank tumblers are allowed while others insist on deactivating our listings. We have also had many listing removed and then given back to us and stated that it was an error in Etsy system see attached trust and safety email. This inconsistency has forced us to deactivate all correctly classified listings, jeopardizing our business and livelihood. I’m trying to reach out to the legal team as a last resort before seeking legal advise myself, we want to work this out and feel as if you have hundreds of sellers and over 1 million listings searchable under sublimation on Etsy than we shouldn’t be penalized. Attached, please find evidence of our correct categorization, along with communications from Etsy support, including a recent message that was unprofessionally dismissive. We believe there is a misunderstanding or lack of clarity regarding sublimation tumblers. These specialized tumblers have a unique coating for sublimation ink absorption, making them essential for DIY printing and customization. We urge you to review our account thoroughly, examine our inactive listings, and recognize that we are compliant with Etsy\\\'s policies. The removal of our star badges and threats of account suspension are unwarranted and detrimental to our business, especially considering the thriving market for sublimation crafting. In summary, sublimation tumblers are vital supplies for crafters, requiring specific equipment such as a sublimation printer, heat press machine, heat-resistant tape and gloves, sublimation paper, and, crucially, blank stainless steel tumblers with sublimation-specific coatings. We seek urgent intervention and clear guidance to resolve these issues and continue operating within Etsy\\\'s guidelines without fear of unjust penalties. Your assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your attention and prompt action. I have been stolen from by a seller then harassed and teased through Etsy email, belittling me and my family as he tells me he’s holding my items hostage, I contact Etsy 6 or 7 times to have the harassment stopped it’s now days later he’s still harassing me and Etsy has done nothing. I already fight major depression and other issues that have been heightened.
I started an Etsy store, it was open 3 months. It actually started booming and I was making daily sales and have followers. My shop had all 5 star reviews and far exceeded their seller expectations/ requirements. One week they tell me my shop is in good standings when I asked about lifting the funds reserve. They lifted it and told me everything is great! A week and a half later and my account is permanently suspended. When asking why they won’t tell you, and refer you to re-read their terms and conditions. When you tell them there are hundreds of other shops blatantly breaking the rules, and point out how you haven’t they simply tell you to report the shops. I have reported them several times, and they are still standing illegal and all with their counterfeit designer items. I asked Etsy after they permanently closed my shop, “ how do I upload the tracking and complete the orders that were still open?” They sent me a generic reply, “So your shop has been suspended you can appeal if you want but in most cases appeals get denied.” They were banking on those open orders to never get closed on my end so they could refund the customers and collect their portion on top of that. Luckily I have a brain and googled my issue. I figured out the very tricky way of closing orders when your shop has been removed. I have done nothing wrong and have rave reviews and followers if my shop on Etsy and on IG. I spent money advertising to brink ppl to my Etsy shop and it worked! And, they followed! All for that to go down the drain too. Talk about discrimination and unfair business practices and law breaking!
I am a U.S citizen expat, I live in Santiago Chile but always have purchased paying with U.S dollars from my U.S bank account and shipping to family addresses within the U.S. I have been blocked without reason and contact for ABSOLUTELY no reason from buying only on Etsy. I use them to access homeschool resources for my children and gifts for my family. This has to be ilegal and I honestly am beyond frustrated. I don\'t care if there is monetary compensation for myself in this case, I only want justice done and my freedoms protected to purchase legally and fairly.
Etsy suspended my 8month store with around 12 sales of my hand made product that was shipped from Amsterdam Netherlands where store is based without giving any reasons and appeal was rejected. In the past they had put payment reserve and also had issues with faulty tracking when I was so annoyed by their support that they didn\'t even understood my issue and finally lost my cool, when etsy told me I am harassing their support and in future might get suspended if my communication doesn\'t improve. No issues were faced for 3 months since and I shipped products and randomly account got suspended and then appeal got rejected saying its permanently suspended. Attempts to get reason of suspension was never mentioned but I believe faulty IT bots trigger auto suspension based on frivolous reasons such as clicking on business edit information etc and then etsy reviewers just purely decide it on their own using history what to do further without any reasons. Etsy has terrible IT systems that are trigger happy to generate auto suspension including bad support and needs to be held liable for mistreatment of sellers without any transparency.
Hello there,
I am Ngan Le, the representative of our company - HYPERIOS LLC.
Recently, we received a notification from our banking services, that they will not provide this service after March 31st, 2024. Unfortunately, these bank accounts are associated with our Etsy shops. We are required by the banking service to change the bank accounts (info) to receive deposits from the Etsy account as soon as possible.
However, after we changed the bank details after the next 24 hours, my Etsy account was suspended, and there was a notification of permanent suspension on the Etsy account because of Etsy\'s policy violation. We carefully reviewed our account and it completely complied with Etsy\'s policy and guidelines.
The only reason that led to this suspension was changing the bank account. We tried to contact Etsy support and they replied that our account was permanently suspended, the response is sort of an automated reply from their system. All we need to do is get in touch with someone who has seasoned savvy about the Etsy platform and can review the accounts.
We are willing to provide further secured information to approve our bank account and reactivate our accounts.
We hope you can understand our situation and give us a solution to get our account back. This account is really important to our business operation.
Furthermore, please let us know if you kindly require any benefit after this case gets done, we\'re willing to meet your requirements, so feel free to tell us also.
Eagerly looking forward to your positive response.
Kind regards,
Ngan Le

As a seller with Etsy, for about 10 years, an enormous shift in business trust ocurred with the witholding of sales income to feed the arbitrary \" Buyer Protection Program\". The story has other facets of my disappointment with Etsy managemrnt from hidden fees encroachment to absolutely no customer service for Sellers, with shops doing business on their app.
Ive closed my shop down to one item and have no sales at all. My creativity has also dried up and I cant even sew any more after experiencing the covert business practices of Etsy, who I formerly recommended enthusiatically to artist and crafter friends. No more.
I have been a seller on Etsy for 3 years. I opened my shop on 2-18-21 and my shop is in good standing. This is a side job, I earn $200 - 300 each week. This might not seem like a lot of money but it is necessary to keep the bills paid. Around the beginning of February 2024, I received notice on my Etsy seller acct. that I needed to \'reverify\' my identity. I sent a photo copy of the same driver\'s license that I submitted in 2021. This is the banner that appeared on my seller page - \"Your funds won’t be available for deposit until we can verify your taxpayer info using the documents you submitted. This usually takes up to 48 hours.\". I have done chats with Etsy Customer Service and phone calls. They all tell me the same thing. \"that dept. needs to verify your identity and your date of birth...they will contact you by email.....\" Unfortunately, we are WAAAAAY past 48 hours that they claimed this would take. I have received ONE email from Etsy during this time and it was from the customer service rep that I was on the phone with at the time b/c I insisted that he check to see if the email address was accurate. I was last paid by Etsy on 2-6-24. They are currently holding $1480.45 in funds that I have earned. Where do I go from here? Thank you, Shelly Muller
Hello. I am based in Canada and I have worked on etsy platform for a few years under one brand name. Now I have changed the legal structure of my business to corporation ( family corporation) and I was trying to update my account with etsy for a new business name and structure. I have tried adding proper documents few times, and every time there is a mistake \"We were unable to verify the business information you entered.\". I have tried contacting etsy few times, with no results.
Subject: Urgent Assistance Needed: Etsy Account Suspension
Hello,
I am writing to seek your urgent assistance regarding a critical issue I am facing with my Etsy account.
I have been a loyal Etsy seller since 2011, and my Etsy store has been a significant source of income for me, with sales totaling almost $1,000,000 over the years. I\'m on etsy from 2011. However, approximately a week ago, my Etsy account was hacked, and as a result, Etsy suspended it.
Since then, I have been tirelessly trying to recover my store, as it is crucial for my livelihood. I have reached out to Etsy\'s customer service multiple times, but unfortunately, I have not received a satisfactory response from them. My customers have also been contacting me, expressing concern about what has happened, which is causing damage to my reputation and business.
Given the gravity of the situation and the substantial financial impact this suspension is having on me, I urgently require your expertise and guidance to navigate this matter effectively. I would greatly appreciate your assistance in helping me resolve this issue as soon as possible.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Best regards,
Irena Orlov

Hello. In February 2024, I opened an Etsy shop, ResinsToCherish. One week later, my account was suspended. Etsy explained that it was because of a 2nd shop in my name, which owed fees. That shop\'s name is Magnoliafauxdoris. I have never had an Etsy shop before opening ResinsToCherish. So apparently my identification and relevant information was stolen and used to open a shop. Etsy explained that because of the information similarities between the 2 shops, I would have to pay fees in the amount of $67.99 which the fradulently opened shop had accrued. A few years ago, my Amazon account was also hacked. So I used my login information from my old Amazon account to see if I could access this fradulent shop. It worked. While I was there, I paid the $67.99 that was owed there because Etsy said those had to be paid before my ResinsToCherish shop could be reopened. I received an email from Etsy stating that my legitimate shop would be reinstated within 24 hours. However, instead of reinstating my shop, I received another email stating that the fradulent shop (Magnoliafauxdoris) had been accessed suspiciously, and that I was required to provide information proving that I owned the shop. I CANNOT provide that information because I did not open that shop. As a result, they are refusing to reopen my ResinsToCherish shop. I have a lot of buyers interested in purchasing items from my Resin shop, and I\'m losing money every day, not the mention the $67.99 I paid to clear an account I have no association with. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau earlier this morning, but I\'m at a loss as to what more I can do. Can you help me, please?
I am interested in talking to someone about Etsy’s practices. They’re using an automated system for cases against our shops. If a customer files a complaint, they’re immediately refunded and a lot of times they’re charging us for it. I’ve lost a lot of money to orders where this happened. It may not be a lot by some standards, but it’s a lot to my small business.
Also, they’re allowing inaccurate reports of intellectual property violations and taking down our listings. I engrave and sell Stanley tumblers as well as non-Stanley tumblers. PMI which owns Stanley reported my listings for infringement for using their logo on my non-stanley cups. My non Stanley cups do not have Stanley logos on them nor have they ever. My listing expressly states that they are not Stanley cups. None of my images show a Stanley cup. Etsys legal team sent me a notice claiming they reviewed it and found it violated PMI/Stanleys trademark on the bear logo. I responded to Etsy who said they could do nothing, as well as PMI. PMI has not responded. The non Stanley cups depending on the time of year can be my biggest sellers and it’s unfair that they can just take them down and hurt my business.
Etsy operates in New York under their laws and they violate them all. I’ve had an account for years with one digital item, a crochet pattern. It’s 20 cents a month to list it. During Covid I got it and have been in and out of hospitals. I tried to login and it said my payment message needed to be updated because my debit card expired and I got a new one. As soon as I updated the debit card and it took $2.40 out of my account I got a screen that said that my account is suspended permanently. When I tried to appeal, it said they sent me a letter in January 2023 and I didn’t appeal in six months. So I am permanently banned from it in every way for $2.40. my store still appears and I assume they still get revenue from my pattern but I can’t do anything to it or close it.
There are thousands of people on the Internet with the same issue I hope you open a class action suit. I can try and get their names and information if needed. I
I bought a table from a turkish merchant - the product was infested with beetles but we did not find out about them until after the 6 month warranty period. It is not uncommon for beetle larvae to be dormant for this long --
I need to sue Etsy they deleted my sellers account for no reason it was my only source of income
Etsy closed 4 my shops without any reason. Never received any answers from them. Now they just charge me and full refund to buyers who received their hand knitted items few months ago. I’m in panic. I don’t know what to do- I loose money, income, items… everything
Hi im from mexico i have an LLC in USA,
in 2021 i was selling on etsy, and they suddenly permamently suspended my account, they never gave me any explanation, i tried appealing with no luck. Can something be done to recover the account? or start another shop without having it taken down?
thanks
Dear,
I am contacting you as we wish to escalate etsy unfair treatment towards our store. We also present many of our clients who are also etsy sellers and got their accounts suspended for no reason and no response from etsy. We would like to work together; to see if we can file a lawsuit . Mind you many of our clients are not based in the US and are not US citizens nor residents. I hope you can assist us.

My Etsy account was suspended about a month ago, I am hoping we can get it back.
This seller sold me counterfeit bags after they assured me they do not have fake bags - only vintage. I was scammed and sent a fake Chanel and YSL bag. I’m out of over $900, and it has literally been impossible to get anyone at Etsy to help me. I’ve filed a complaint with the BBB, I’ve written them on Instagram, I’ve opened a case, and even attempted to chat with them. I cannot get anyone to help me and I’m fed up. Please help.
Etsy closed our shop after 15 months for no reason, killing over a year of dedication and nonstop work.
We are planning a case against Etsy despite their \"Forced arbitration\" terms; you can sign up here: https://coda.io/@paleo/etsy-scandal-collective-lawsuit if you\'re in the same situation!
I opened my Etsy shop in May/June, 2023. Made it through the holidays just fine. Then on 4 January, my account was \"limited\" due to suspicious activity. I immediately responded to the email asking for information to gain access to the account. I still have not heard anything in response. It has been over a week and while I understand these things take time, this is one of my primary sources of income and I am not able to list anything, my shop is indicated as closed, and I can\'t read or respond to messages. I tried going through chat but they say they can\'t help me and all my emails go unanswered. Their process for responding sucks and it is taking away from my business opportunities
I had a shop on Etsy under another name but they were taking all my money and not showing my products because I complained. I shut that shop down and started a new one. I was doing wonderful. Getting tons of views, my sales where going up every day. I had my star seller badge and was turning a profit. Then all of a sudden views stopped and no sales. After about 3 weeks I got an email from Etsy saying Warner bros had complained about the name I was using on one of my nail wraps. They said they had reviewed it and removed it. It seems they shut my shop down during the review. I thought it would pick back up but it didnt. Etsy and Warner bros ruined me. I have been working so hard and have so much money invested in my shop and they ruined me. They have changed the algorithm so I dont get any views now
I am facing a serious problem. On December 11, Etsy sent me an e-mail for a payment of $ 13,000 (386,000 TL). And they said the money was on the way. This was something that happened every week. Generally, the money was transferred to my account within 1 day.
But on Thursday the money still had not arrived. When I talked to Etsy, they asked me to wait 5 business days, so I waited.
Today, after 5 business days, I wrote to Etsy. They told me the money was sent. When I talked to the bank, the bank definitely said that no money had been sent. So they didn\'t send any money. Then I asked Etsy customer service for a document or proof that they sent the money.
THIS TIME THEY TOLD ME TO WAIT FOR 90 DAYS.
AND THEY COULD NOT GIVE ME DOCUMENT THAT THEY SENT THE MONEY.
The bank is now sending me documents proving that the money has not arrived and that there has been no transaction. Officially etsy is not giving my money and is lying.
I am preparing to file a lawsuit as soon as possible to get my money.
Has anyone encountered this problem before?
How can I get my money?
My Etsy account is blocked. Please let me know if you need more information.
My name is Robert A. Orcutt III, and I am the owner of the Etsy shops DesTeeNations and DesTnations. I’ve encountered a significant issue with Etsy, leading to the unexplained closures of my shops under ticket ID 14160622. Despite my conscientious efforts to comply with all of Etsy\'s policies, both shops were abruptly shut down without a clear reason, leaving me without my primary business platform and source of income.
When I appealed to Etsy, the responses were generic and non-transparent, leaving me without any actionable feedback or understanding of the alleged policy violations. This has not only resulted in immediate financial loss due to sunk costs in listing fees, commercial licenses, and marketing campaigns but also a substantial projected loss of future income based on the growth trajectory and traffic I had been successfully driving to the shops.
Throughout my time as a seller on Etsy, I have conducted extensive research into their policies, engaged with the community for best practices, and even sought direct guidance from Etsy to preempt any potential issues. I have taken immediate corrective actions, such as deactivating listings that might pose a problem and ensuring all my products are original or properly licensed. All I seek now is a clear explanation from Etsy, reinstatement of my shops, a refund for the incurred costs, and compensation for the invested marketing efforts.
I am prepared to provide any necessary documentation to support my claims and show the due diligence I\'ve exercised in operating within Etsy’s guidelines. I\'ve not lodged any prior complaints, but given these events, I feel compelled to seek help in resolving this matter. Etsy\'s actions have severely affected my livelihood, and I believe they must be held accountable for the opaque and seemingly arbitrary closure of my shops.
My Etsy shop was closed due to them citing me for violating policies and selling \"weapons\". I sell self defense keychains for women. While Etsy allows sellers to sell hunting knives as a craft, I was not allowed to sell multifunctional camping keys on a keychain. They permanently suspended my store and is now holding over $1400 for 180 days, \"just in case\" all while still retaining all of my private billing information they used to cover my listing costs. All of my orders have been delivered. I have never had a customer complaint or an order issue and my store was only open for 6 weeks. I need that money to pay for the merchandise that was sold. Etsy has stolen enough of my profit since they fee literally every step of the purchasing process. is there a way to get my money? I hear horror stories of people who have had to wait over 2 years for their funds if they got them back at all.
I was in the process of creating a shop on Etsy. I hadn\'t sold a thing, but my account was suspended without notice or explanation. I\'ve been trying to reach someone at Etsy for about a month, but it\'s just dead ends. I would like to pursue arbitration.
I am an Etsy Seller who was locked out of my account without any reason being provided by Etsy. I have lost sales, been unable to contact my buyers, and (despite appealing the suspension & reaching out multiple times to Etsy), have not been contacted once by any representative from Etsy in nearly 5 weeks. Further, I received an automated notice from Etsy, asking for me to \"please keep all communications with Etsy private, and do not share with a 3rd party\". I have never before received such such a peculiar request from any company or business. Further, if they refuse to respond to requests for communication, what other option do users have, except to seek out help through 3rd parties, to make their business platform accountable for their unconstitutional, unethical, and unreasonable practices? I would like compensation for the business losses I have suffered, including loss of professional standing (I could not even contact my buyers to inform them of the reason why the items were not being shipped out or were being delayed); further, I would like all restrictions on my account to be lifted, and for Etsy\'s business practices/standards to be held to account by common lawful business standards/procedures.
I started selling on online etsy the online platform in 2021. Little background. I’ve been in e-commerce since 2017 and have done thousands of transactions. What happened blew my mind.
So I was selling on the platform and then in May 2022 they decided to suspend my account and hold the money for the time that they require. Which was 180 days. I reached out and they reopened my store but would not let me access the funds until December 10th 2022 the date that they would allow it. So anyway I had a good amount of money saved so I kept running the store. Then 1 day before they were going to release the money on December 9th 2022 they sent me a email that the store is closed and they would hold the money for a additional time. At this point I was doing a shitload of orders & put the cost of goods on my credit cards.
The platforms account is rich but my personal account checking & savings is at $0.00. My credit cards are maxed, I barely paid my rent borrowing money, my credit score is low now, I haven’t slept well in months. I owe people money. I’m absolutely crushed at this point.
I’ve reached out to BBB & call to action. I want to sue the company for damages
There policy stated I would receive the money in a certain timeline and it had surpassed that time by double. For example sake, 180 days “policy hold turned into” 360+ current days.
Hello,
I am currently based in Portugal and have a shop on Etsy since 2015.
I never had any problem with them until April 10th when they suddently stopped sending my deposits taking the excuse that my banking information needed to be updated.
After more than a month of unsuccessful trials they suspended my shop without any prior notification. My bank accounts have always been receiving my payments so I do not understand.
I am a single mom, and have recently lost my husband from cancer, so this shop is my only income. This is a really stressfull situation.
Is there anything that can be done?
I have been selling on Etsy for about a year and now that my sells have been increased I’m not being fairly. And recently my account was placed on reserve due to late shipments that had prior arrangements or required payment to complete orders for needed materials. I am now being paid way below the minimum payout amount which is $25.00. I am currently using my money to pay for and ship orders while my money is being held. All the orders I am currently completing aren’t being paid for and I am losing money.
I began my business to help me escape a violent and abusive relationship and I now fear I may have to return due to my cure financial instability.
I am a successful seller on Etsy. Etsy has taken so much money for me when customers have opened a case. Whether shipment was delayed or if 1/200 Koozies I sell wasn’t to their standard. They would refund $100s without me even seeing the case was opened. The case is supposed to be 24-48 hours but they refund within minutes. I have a disability so a phone number for sellers is essential to me. They do not have a working number. This is unfair and now it’s happening way more than usual.
Hello,
We have been selling on Etsy for years with great reviews, we started selling a licensed product that we bought from a distributor and 100% holds the license and we were given permission from the distributor to sell on Etsy. Well Warner Bros get reporting us for copyright infringement. When we were 100% selling their licensed product. There was no way to get a hold of Warner Bros to show them the proof this was indeed licensed product. And after multiple false reports from Warner Bros Etsy wont let us sell any products anymore.
Warner Bros has costed us hundreds of thousends of dollar in business.
1. Can you help re-instate our Etsy account
2. Can we sue Warner Bros?
Thanks,
Jeff
Etsy suspended my account for no reason and has been automatically refunding buyers who are receiving their items. They are ignoring all of my emails.
I am in Canada, could you help me with an Etsy case?
I am a seller on etsy. I have had my business stolen from other sellers copying my intellectual property, then some of those people harrass me by reporting my items as not handmade and the items are being removed from etsy to sell. There\'s no number to call, only email which goes unanswered. This always happens right before Thanksgiving people report my listing then they\'re removed so that I don\'t get the business for black Friday Thanksgiving weekend. I\'m losing a lot of money from people stealing my designs and products.
