Refunding Issues

An extensive number of Etsy consumers have complained about the company’s refunding issues. According to complaints, a hefty number of consumers have paid for products that never came or were clearly damaged prior to shipping. Upon requesting assistance with the refund, Etsy, Inc’s consumers were slapped with the company’s Buyer Policy which essentially frees them from culpability in case of buyer-seller disputes despite conducting business in their platform.

Other buyers have reported alarming activities in their accounts, including sudden email changes and unauthorized purchases and charges. The company took days, if not weeks, before responding to emails and was incredibly hard to get in touch with due to their offshore customer agents. We were an Etsy seller and were placed on their reserve program. Our shop has since closed and Etsy has continued to hold our funds for over 4 months ($3200 worth). We have had multiple support chat conversations with them to no avail. They keep putting us off with the "you will receive an email" that never comes. Multiple cases have been assigned. We have printed chat transcripts of all conversations.

I've been a seller on etsy for roughly a couple of months. My recent frustration has been with Etsy's business practices of reserving funds from a seller WITHOUT any form of consent from the actual seller. I've sold my product fair and square, and I should receive my payment without any reserve or hold. If etsy expects sellers to conduct themselves on time, then they should as well when it comes to payment. A recent order of mine had been shipped to Canada with tracking details provided. My customer notified me that she had received the order. On etsy, however, I cannot receive the payment funds because etsy claims that my order is without tracking thus meaning they are unsure if the item has been delivered via their system. According to etsy, I have 45 days until I can see the payment from the order or until I provide tracking. How is that fair? Upon trying to notify etsy manually that the order had been completed and the customer received the product, I could not find a single form of contact. They repeatedly lie about multiple forms of contact via CHAT, EMAIL, 24/7 SUPPORT—to which there are none! There is an email form and good luck getting a response. You'll wait weeks only for them to give you a copy and paste response directly taken from their written help forums. No actual person to help resolve the situation or concern. There is a contact support hotline floating around the internet and not made apparent on etsy's OWN site, however, even that number has been disconnected once you try to call! Etsy has made it IMPOSSIBLE for any seller or buyer to get the help they need. They have ZERO customer service at this point, and yet find new ways to take advantage of their sellers with rising fees and reserving payments OWED to sellers for rightfully completing orders. UNJUST and UNFAIR for how big etsy is. I have screenshot evidence to support etsy's deceptive claims of their lackluster help center.

I have an Etsy shop and have been selling since January 2022. They put my payments on reserve and send an email stating that 75% of my payments will be held in reserve and the other 25% will be available for deposit. I have not received one deposit since I opened my shop. I have $1400 in funds that belongs to me and Etsy refuses to help or release funds.

After selling very successfully on Etsy with a 5 star rating in the 5 years of selling my account was hacked, suspended, then permanently suspended all in 6 months. My account was hacked and it took me 5 days to get it back from Etsy. I had 2 step enabled and hackers had no problem getting my account. The email Etsy sends will not work because it follows whatever email it is attached to. So a hacker changes your email and the link then is associated with new email.. I caught the email regarding email change only a few hours after it has happened and the link was no good. Etsy did not answer my phone calls or emails. After calling for days finally day 5 I was able to get my account back. When I signed on the algorithm treated me as a new store. Selling on Etsy becomes better and better the more time your with them. My sales crashed. Also all of my data for number of sales and more importantly my reviews were gone?? I had two negative reviews in 5 years so yes I was pissed. I finally get them to change my start date back to when I began selling and shortly after this happened I go to log on to my account and it says it has been suspended?? I had been working with a customer about a piece of glass that was missing from a wind chime she bought. She and I had been communicating and working everything out. Apparently Etsy sent her an email suggesting she file a case against me. A case was filed on that same day case was closed and she was refunded $225.00 without returning the vintage chimes from Japan WWII. She never wanted a return she wanted a piece of glass that had fallen off. I was in full communication with her. I never had a chance to respond to case or dispute it for some reason it was all done in one business day. I contacted Etsy to let them know there was an error with .my account because they refunded the buyer .My account was negative therefore suspended. I do not have a debt card on file after Feb 2019 having $2400.00 taken from me. I have a card I can turn off and on. I was able to have my account reinstated because it was obvious so many things that had happened were a huge error. It took about a week and a half to get back online. Once again it was as if I was just starting on Etsy. About a week after this happened there was another issue with buyer. Again they were advised to open case. Again a refund was given and I walked away. From the time my account was hacked my income was lost. I made peanuts from April 2021 to October 2021. Was suspended most of November my biggest month of the year. I feel they have screwed me in so many ways and never are held accountable heck you can't even reach a live person most of the time

I sell on Etsy through 4 stores. I am a U.S. citizen but live in Japan, your form doesn't have a 'state' for Japan so I choose California. I recently had a claim filed against one of my shops which I lost. Under threat of having my account suspended I refunded the full amount. The core of the complaint against me was that I didn't send what the buyer ordered. The proof was a photo of what she claimed I sent. During the dispute process I offered concrete proof that I had sent what I claimed. All my proof was ignored and I was overruled.

etsy treats my shop as sh. I am not intending to invest time or $$ in this case as I don't have either and it's not worth it. However, I feel my shop was treated like cr.. Hello, I have several complaints against Etsy, the first one is related to the fact that they are refusing to help me with the .csv file in what regards my products listed on the website. The shop is suspended, so I am unable to download the full data that they are storing. The shop was suspended after I received several infringement reports, which unfortunately I've seen only too late. I contacted the complaining parties, as I am trying to restore the account. One of them already contacted them with a withdrawal(which notice I also received). Etsy did not canceled the report, after more than 10 days its still on the website. I understand that Etsy does not actually check these reports, as I have few items reporting for using "Bulgari" trademark, while the word is nowhere mentioned in my listings, there are lots of items similar with those still available on the platform. I sent several messages to the complaining party in order to understand what triggered the claim, but no reply so far. I am not sure if it would be able to ask your advice about this matter. Another matter: I had 2 open cases, one for a pair of large, huge hoops, made of brass, arriving slightly unaligned to the customer. I explained several times that are made of brass and can be very, extremely easily, manually adjusted, which the customer managed to do, as she refused to returned them while I asked to be returned in order to qualify for a refund. Etsy stated that they are significantly different from the original listing, which is a completly false statement and they refunded. Another issue is with another case a customer opened for a non-delivery. While I was unable to check the case due to the poor internet network I had, Etsy closed the case and refunded. I did not had the chance to reply in any way. I have the dispatching receipt, the customer provided an incomplete address, as the customer failed to mention the flat number, only the building number. This whole situation is very, so very frustrating, I never thought that I might have so many problems with Etsy. I feel that while they are holding my funds, about 700Euros, they are entitled to refund for anything, when they please. Hope that you may be able to help in any possible way, I do not know where can I ask for help about these issues, as they are not replying to my messages. Thank you.
