Overdraft Fees

According to a complaint against First Horizon Bank, the consumer accumulated overdraft fees despite canceling the said option upon realizing fraudulent activity in the account. It took weeks for First Horizon Bank to address the fraud concern, and at which point, the client was told there were no notes about the fraud in the account. Although the bank refunded the money spent during the fraud activity, the client had racked up hundreds of overdraft fees despite requesting the restriction weeks prior.

Delays in Application Processing

Other complaints against First Horizon Bank involved delays in processing applications. According to a complaint, a client had spent months trying to set up an account for their business only to be snubbed and avoided by the attending banker on multiple occasions. This apparent neglect had negatively affected the client’s finances.

Misleading Promotions

Another critique against First Horizon Bank is with their misleading bonuses. A client had reportedly opened an account with the promise of a $400 bonus. During the application, the client met all the requirements but was told otherwise after asking for the bonus. Later, the same client was still met with refusal after obliging to succeeding requirements.

Dismal Customer Service

A common complaint from many of First Horizon Bank’s consumers is with their lousy customer service. Consumers were either connected with unhelpful, rude, or unknowledgeable employees that didn’t resolve or even address their concern up to expectation.

Unfortunately, these complaints are just the beginning for First Horizon Bank. The bank’s customers are left wondering what options they have regarding their consumer rights.

We Fix Complaints When Customer Service Won’t

Has First Horizon Bank used misleading sales tactics? Have you received poor service? Do you have complaints with billing? Do you want customer service at First Horizon Bank to listen?

A lot of First Horizon Bank Corporation customers aren’t happy with their service and the Better Business Bureau lists 35 customer complaints against the company in the past three years, including complaints for billing and collections practices, problems with a service/product, advertising and sales, among others.

If your complaints haven’t been heard, we can help. At America’s Consumer Lawyer we help customers who have been mistreated by big companies–much like First Horizon Bank–and we turn your complaints into resolutions!

We’ll not only file your legal demands with First Horizon Bank, we’ll negotiate with the company. If your claim isn’t resolved through these negotiations, we’ll work through the legal process that is outlined in your First Horizon Bank contract, which is typically arbitration.

America’s Consumer Lawyer gets results–including zero balances, refunds, and other compensation.

Here’s How to Make Big Companies Listen

It can be frustrating when you rely on a service and don’t get the results you’ve paid for. Big companies make mistakes every day and not only is it their fault, it can cost you money, time, and leave you with big headaches.

Have you tried calling First Horizon Bank to address an issue, only to be told that the representative has no authority to do so? Or maybe you’ve tried talking to someone higher up in the company, only to be ignored, dismissed, or they take too long, continuing to waste your precious time. Maybe you’ve sent an email to the company which only resulted in a prefabricated response or they never follow through with what they’ve promised.

When you’re limited in your choices for service providers or you’re locked into a contract, what can you do?

Fortunately, you do have options.

Use Arbitration to Settle Your Complaint

Most companies like First Horizon Bank have an arbitration clause in their contracts to prevent being taken to court for traditional litigation. This is actually an advantage for the consumer. When you request an arbitration hearing, an independent third party (the arbitrator) with knowledge of the type of situation involved will listen to the facts from both sides and make an impartial, binding decision. First Horizon Bank will have to do a lot of work and there is no guarantee that they will have a successful outcome.

Arbitration is Fast, Inexpensive, and Private

Arbitration with First Horizon Bank is conducted through the American Arbitration Association (AAA). According to the AAA Consumer Due Process Protocol, arbitration through AAA will comply with their Statement of Principles, which includes:

  • The process is fundamentally fair – All parties are entitled to qualified, competent, impartial arbitrators who will conduct a fair hearing.
  • You get access to all relevant information – This includes reasonable costs, confidentiality, reasonable time limits, and meeting times and/or locations that are agreeable to both parties.
  • Transparency – AAA provides clear arbitration agreements and the ability for each side to hire their own representation.
  • Just process – Arbitration allows the arbitrator to award the same relief as traditional litigation in a binding decision.
  • Alternative to arbitration – Mediation and the ability to take the case to small claims court should be available in some cases.

Arbitration Gives you Control and Leverage

When First Horizon Bank is alerted that you plan to pursue arbitration, they know it will cost them money out of pocket. Not only do they run the risk of losing the case, but they will also pay for their mistake(s) and the arbitration itself. This gives you more leverage with your demands.

If First Horizon Bank doesn’t meet those demands and you have a real complaint, America’s Consumer Lawyer can help by representing you in arbitration where you will get a fair, just, and transparent hearing.

Control and Leverage Triggers Faster Settlements

Large companies like First Horizon Bank don’t like the uncertainty and loss of control that comes with arbitration. Not only do they lose the advantage in the situation, but you’re also on equal footing with them in the eyes of arbitration.

The first step in taking on First Horizon Bank is to formally raise your complaint. The lawyers at America’s Consumer Lawyer can help you to do so. We will send a letter of demands to the corporate offices of First Horizon Bank, letting them know that you’re ready to begin arbitration if a satisfactory resolution is not achieved. Typically, this is 30 days, but it will depend on your specific contract with First Horizon Bank.

Approximately 50% of cases will settle before proceeding to an arbitration hearing during this time. However, if First Horizon Bank doesn’t offer a reasonable settlement within the appropriate time frame, the next step would be filing a case with AAA. America’s Consumer Lawyer will not only put together the necessary paperwork for arbitration, but we will also help you take the next steps in the arbitration process.

UDAAP and Arbitration

UDAAP is an acronym representing laws that prohibit Unfair, Deceptive, or Abusive Acts or Practices in the context of trade or business. This includes misrepresentation, deception, false advertising, or false promises. These laws emerged following the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act that was enacted in response to the 2008 financial crisis. The ultimate goal with these laws is geared towards protecting consumers involved in financial transactions, educating consumers on their rights, and allowing them access to information and resources to best inform their decisions.

UDAAP laws are regulated by two organizations, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The FTC expanded the initial UDAAP laws in 2004 to include unfair and deceptive acts and practices. Some standards for unfairness, in particular, include if it causes or is likely to cause substantial injury to consumers, the injury is not reasonably avoidable by consumers, and the injury is not outweighed by countervailing benefits to consumers or to competition.

Every state has UDAAP laws, which can vary widely. However, the lawyers at America’s Consumer Lawyer understand these laws and can use them to get compensation for deceptive practices, representing consumers throughout the country in cases of arbitration at no cost to them. The company will not only pay the consumer, but they will also pay my fees as well. The consumer will never pay me a cent.

If you’re dealing with an issue with First Horizon Bank, you might try filing a complaint with the BBB or the customer service team with First Horizon Bank. Unfortunately, these avenues won’t always lead to a successful resolution for you, the customer. Instead, you may want to consider an experienced arbitration lawyer to take on your case.

Arbitration is a very useful tool for resolving disputes, and America’s Consumer Lawyer can help. With our expert guidance, we bring the big companies to the table and provide the support needed to get your bills corrected, credit reports fixed, improper fees refunded, and more. Let us pick up the sword for you; you have nothing to lose.

How Do I File a Complaint Against First Horizon Bank?

We will use your state’s UDAAP law to file a complaint in Arbitration on your behalf at no cost to you. UDAAP laws include misrepresentation, deception, false advertising, or false promises. Under your state’s UDAAP law, you are likely entitled to money damages for your actual damages.  Plus, the other side will pay our fees and costs.  You will not pay us a penny.

Stanley Howard passed away in August 2025. The funeral home listed me as his domestic partner; however, Florida-issued records list me as the person reporting the death and classify the relationship as “friend,” as Florida does not recognize domestic partnerships. I reported Stanley’s death to the Social Security Administration on August 19, 2025 (the day he passed) and provided all required documentation to First Horizon Bank, where I was the named beneficiary on his account. By September 29, 2025, all required documentation had been submitted to: Claim the remaining $331 in the beneficiary account, and Deposit a $1,551 CFPB settlement check issued to Stanley (Lexington Law settlement). First Horizon Bank refused to accept the CFPB check and delayed release of the beneficiary funds without providing a valid explanation. Bank Misconduct During branch interactions and a subsequent phone call: A teller repeatedly provided incorrect information about Social Security benefit timing, contradicting SSA guidance I had already received. The teller stated to me that I “wasn’t getting any of the money.” The teller discussed Stanley’s deposits and my beneficiary status in a public banking area, in front of other customers. I later confirmed directly with the Social Security Administration that the teller’s statements were incorrect and that the death had been reported on August 19, 2025. Regulatory Complaints I filed a formal complaint with the CFPB. First Horizon responded with inaccurate statements that mischaracterized events and omitted key facts. I have since filed new complaints with both the CFPB and the Florida Attorney General addressing the underlying conduct and the inaccuracies in the bank’s response. Consequences and Damages Because the funds were wrongfully delayed: I was unable to purchase a vehicle and could not work consistently. I earn approximately $200 per day and typically work 7 days per week. From late September through December 2025, I suffered significant lost income. I fell behind on utilities and rent, and eviction proceedings have since been initiated. I may incur $1,300–$2,200 in moving and storage costs if displacement occurs. Due to credit damage worsened by these events, my brother ultimately had to purchase a vehicle in his name so I could resume working. Estimated Damages (Conservative) Withheld/delayed funds: $1,882 Lost income: ~$8,000 Utilities arrears/penalties: ~$600 Anticipated moving/storage costs: $1,300–$2,200 Privacy violation/distress: $1,000–$2,000 Estimated total: approximately $12,000–$15,000 What I’m Seeking Guidance on whether First Horizon Bank’s conduct gives rise to actionable claims and whether damages related to lost income, housing instability, and privacy violations are recoverable. Documentation supporting the above timeline and amounts is available.

Hello, I’m reaching out to see if First Horizon failed to protect its customer along with broke regulatory laws in enabling me to continue to make international online gambling purchases. The transactions started well before they purchased the business from Iberia Bank. I had a bad gambling problem that has taken everything that meant something to me. I’m in a better mindset now and looking to make the people that allowed it to continue even after speaking to them in person about it to be held accountable. I’ve made transactions equal to around 200k-300k plus through online casinos, land based casinos and social casinos. The transactions were made through a third party process server from places all over in other countries with the added international fees attached to each one. It’s very obvious to what it’s being used for plus there has been several times where money has been wired to first horizon from the online casinos. I had a meeting with the bank manager one time because of the transactions gambling but nothing more was ever done to prevent it. This has costed me lawsuits, my vehicles, had to move, credit is destroyed, bills delinquent, been arrested and now my business. If you could share any info to if I have a case against them I would greatly appreciate it. I can only receive emails at the moment.

Hi, I had a solicitor who deceived me. I requested it in 2021 and the bank does not want to answer me or receive the request by email. I live in Brazil and my late father owned the titles. Yosuke Yoshida (dad) Riuiti Yoshida (inventer).
