Refund Issues

The top complaint consumers have against Klarna Inc is regarding the company’s refunding. Numerous clients reported never receiving their refunds for returned and defective items. Others also reported being refused the refund despite returning the items and following proper refund guidelines.

Shady Merchants

According to Klarna, Inc, consumers are refunded after merchants have verified cancellations or returns and have received partial or full refunds. A number of consumers reported not receiving their refunds despite months of settling their accounts and being met with Klarna’s policy. This has resulted in consumers’ money being tied up for months on end.

System Error

Another issue clients have against Klarna, Inc is with their system. The complaints reported consumers being unable to access their accounts, getting prompts about changed email accounts and numbers despite not updating their information. This has locked consumers out of their accounts and compromised their security.

Lousy Customer Relations

On top of all these complaints, Klarna Inc has failed to address its customers’ complaints timely and satisfactorily. The complaints detailed clients having to deal with their issues with Klarna Inc for months. Said issues were mostly solved upon getting help from the Better Business Bureau (BBB), and even then not all had satisfactory and just outcomes.

Unfortunately, refund issues, shady merchants, and poor customer service complaints are just the beginning for Klarna Inc. The financial service company’s customers are left wondering what options they have regarding their consumer rights.

Here’s How to Make Big Companies Listen

It can be frustrating when you rely on a service and don’t get the results you’ve paid for. Big companies make mistakes every day and not only is it their fault, but it can also cost you money, time, and leave you with big headaches.

Have you tried calling Klarna Inc to address an issue, only to be told that the representative has no authority to do so? Or maybe you’ve tried talking to someone higher up in the company, only to be ignored, dismissed, or they take too long, continuing to waste your precious time. Maybe you’ve sent an email to the company which only resulted in a prefabricated response or they never follow through with what they’ve promised.

When you’re limited in your choices for service providers or you’re locked into a contract, what can you do?

Fortunately, you do have options.

Use Arbitration to Settle Your Complaint

Most companies like Klarna Inc have an arbitration clause in their contracts to prevent being taken to court for traditional litigation. This is actually an advantage for the consumer. When you request an arbitration hearing, an independent third-party (the arbitrator) with knowledge of the type of situation involved will listen to the facts from both sides and make an impartial, binding decision. Klarna Inc will have to do a lot of work and there is no guarantee that they will have a successful outcome.

Arbitration is Fast, Inexpensive, and Private

Arbitration with Klarna Inc is conducted through the American Arbitration Association (AAA). According to the AAA Consumer Due Process Protocol, arbitration through AAA will comply with their Statement of Principles, which includes:

  • The process is fundamentally fair – All parties are entitled to qualified, competent, impartial arbitrators who will conduct a fair hearing.
  • You get access to all relevant information – This includes reasonable costs, confidentiality, reasonable time limits, and meeting times and/or locations that are agreeable to both parties.
  • Transparency – AAA provides clear arbitration agreements and the ability for each side to hire their own representation.
  • Just process – Arbitration allows the arbitrator to award the same relief as traditional litigation in a binding decision.
  • Alternative to arbitration – Mediation and the ability to take the case to small claims court should be available in some cases.

Arbitration Gives you Control and Leverage

When Klarna Inc is alerted that you plan to pursue arbitration, they know it will cost them money out of pocket. Not only do they run the risk of losing the case, but they will also pay for their mistake(s) and the arbitration itself. This gives you more leverage with your demands.

If Klarna Inc doesn’t meet those demands and you have a real complaint, Agruss Law Firm, LLC can help by representing you in arbitration where you will get a fair, just, and transparent hearing.

Control and Leverage Triggers Faster Settlements

Large companies like Klarna Inc don’t like the uncertainty and loss of control that comes with arbitration. Not only do they lose the advantage in the situation, but you’re also on equal footing with them in the eyes of arbitration.

The first step in taking on Klarna Inc is to formally raise your complaint. The lawyers at Agruss Law Firm, LLC can help you to do so. We will send a letter of demands to the corporate offices of Klarna Inc, letting them know that you’re ready to begin arbitration if a satisfactory resolution is not achieved. Typically, this is 30 days, but it will depend on your specific contract with Klarna Inc.

Approximately 50% of cases will settle before proceeding to an arbitration hearing during this time. However, if Klarna Inc doesn’t offer a reasonable settlement within the appropriate time frame, the next step would be filing a case with AAA. Agruss Law Firm, LLC will not only put together the necessary paperwork for arbitration, but we will also help you take the next steps in the arbitration process.

UDAAP and Arbitration

UDAAP is an acronym representing laws that prohibit Unfair, Deceptive, or Abusive Acts or Practices in the context of trade or business. This includes misrepresentation, deception, false advertising, or false promises. These laws emerged following the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act that was enacted in response to the 2008 financial crisis. The ultimate goal with these laws is geared towards protecting consumers involved in financial transactions, educating consumers on their rights, and allowing them access to information and resources to best inform their decisions.

UDAAP laws are regulated by two organizations, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The FTC expanded the initial UDAAP laws in 2004 to include unfair and deceptive acts and practices. Some standards for unfairness, in particular, include if it causes or is likely to cause substantial injury to consumers, the injury is not reasonably avoidable by consumers, and the injury is not outweighed by countervailing benefits to consumers or to competition.

Every state has UDAAP laws, which can vary widely. However, the lawyers at Agruss Law Firm, LLC understand these laws and can use them to get compensation for deceptive practices, representing consumers throughout the country in cases of arbitration at no cost to them. The company will not only pay the consumer, but they will also pay my fees as well. The consumer will never pay me a cent.

If you’re dealing with an issue with Klarna Inc, you might try filing a complaint with the BBB or the customer service team with Klarna Inc. Unfortunately, these avenues won’t always lead to a successful resolution for you, the customer. Instead, you may want to consider an experienced arbitration lawyer to take on your case.

Arbitration is a very useful tool for resolving disputes, and Agruss Law Firm, LLC can help. With our expert guidance, we bring the big companies to the table and provide the support needed to get your bills corrected, credit reports fixed, improper fees refunded, and more. Let us pick up the sword for you; you have nothing to lose.

How Do I File a Complaint Against Klarna Inc?

We will use your state’s UDAAP law to file a complaint in Arbitration on your behalf at no cost to you. UDAAP laws include misrepresentation, deception, false advertising, or false promises. Under your state’s UDAAP law, you are likely entitled to money damages for your actual damages.  Plus, the other side will pay our fees and costs.  You will not pay us a penny.

I have a purchase on my account that is not authorized. I called into Klarna starting in January for helping disputing the purchase. I have asked for a supervisor to assist. I have spoken to the investigation department. They keep saying I have to pay the order and even make debits from a card I didn\'t authorize them to use. You have to select which method of payment you want to use. I, the consumer, have to decide. But they will debit the card on file and there is no autopay option. They are doing unethical and illegal practices with consumer\'s finances.

Bottom Line: Can I sue for not only what i\'m owed, but more for undue stress and emotional bout this experience is putting my family through? DETAILS: I am active duty military in the US Army, and I am victim to fraudulent business practices that is threatening my livelihood. Between 12/4/2022 and 12/7/2022 I made purchases with the Klarna buy now, pay later service at Petco, Petsmart, and Walmart. Within several days I had returned everything purchased, most the very next day. I had a change of mind and didn\'t use any of the products returned. I returned the items to the stores and got physical receipts. The total expected refund amount in question between the 3 stores is approximately $1,050.64. I have not received any refunds in-person, digital refunds from Klarna, or the promised paper checks I should have received almost 2 weeks ago. Klarna has now ignored my attempts to communicated through the email threads with Klarna. Klarna admitted that their system couldn\'t refund my payment methods for some reason and that paper checks would be mailed to me for the total amount of these purchases + any fees or interest. Then I could use said checks to pay the balances off. I haven\'t been refunded any of my down payments to date either. I have had my bank block them because they continue to try and draft payments towards purchases whose goods were returned to the stores. They have now sent me collections/credit threat letters, refused to extend payment due dates or reverse associated late fees. I returned these products to the store over 2 months ago and still have no refunds. They owe me over $1,000, which will total approximately $1,725 over time if they force me to pay/send to collections. Again, all for items that I no longer have and were all returned properly to the store with return receipts!

Hello, I am seeking help with a refund issue. Klarna has owed me a $206.23 refund since September 13, 2022, for a purchase never received. Klarna has never denied that they owe me a refund. First they claimed that a refund check was sent to me on October 19th, which I never received. After I filed a BBB complaint they then claimed a check was sent to my address on November 14th, which I never received either. They can provide no proof of mailing in either instance. I seek assistance in getting back my rightful money from this company. Thank you.

We had a payment plan set up with Klarna to have payments withdrawn from our account on the 25th of every month since October 2021 for 36 months. Everything was fine until recently. They debited our account October 28th, November 2nd, November 4th, and November 7th for $203.45 each transaction. When speaking to them, they said those payments were manually paid, which they were not because we had auto pay set up since we purchased the item, and they proceeded to tell us we had failed to pay for 3 or 4 months. When we showed them statements and app screen shots that we did pay those months, they blamed it on our bank. We had the payments reversed, and they drafted the account again without permission on November 15th, then proceed to tell us we still owe money for October and November. They sent us an email saying our claim was sent to someone who can \'deal with our issue\' and we haven\'t heard anything from them in almost 2 weeks. We refuse to pay these supposed missed payments because we already paid for them, according to the app and bank statements. Our payment was due November 25th for $407, to cover October and November.. and as I mentioned above, they debited our account October 28th for the October payment. We need SOMEONE to get their attention and figure this crap out. Until then, we aren\'t paying them squat. As far as we\'re concerned, they withdrew those alleged missing payments already. We\'re also wondering where that November 15th payment went?
