Introduction
Lee County, with the county seat of Dixon, has a population of 36,031 according to the most recent U.S. Census. There are two theories on the naming of Lee County, with one theory suggesting that the county was named for “Lighthouse Harry” Lee, an officer of the Revolutionary War. The second theory states that Lee County was named for Richard Henry Lee, a member of the Continental Congress. One of the most famous residents of Lee County was President Ronald Reagan, who lived in Dixon and attended Dixon High School.
Geography
According to the U.S. Census, Lee County has a total of 729 square miles, of which 725 square miles is land and 4.1 square miles is water.
Major Highways
Lee County roads and highways are often busy with motor vehicles of all shapes and sizes. The major highways that run through Lee County include: Interstate 39, Interstate 88, U.S. Highway 30, U.S. Highway 51, U.S. Highway 52, Illinois Route 2, Illinois Route 26, Illinois Route 38, Illinois Route 110, and Illinois Route 251.

Lee County weather is typical for Illinois, with highs averaging 82 °F during the summer months and lows averaging 10 °F during winter. On average, Lee County gets 37.3 inches of measurable precipitation in the form of rain, snow, or hail, which not only contributes to motor vehicle accidents, but also slip and falls, pedestrian accidents, rideshare accidents, and bicycle accidents.
