Introduction
Pulaski County, with the county seat of Mound City, has a population of 6,161 according to the most recent U.S. Census. The county is named in honor of Kazimierz Pulaski, who was killed at the Siege of Savannah in the Revolutionary War.
Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Pulaski County has a total area of 203 square miles, of which 199 square miles consists of land and 4.0 square miles is water.

Pulaski County has a strong agricultural presence and many residents working in the medical field, manufacturing, transportation, and retail, keeping its roadways busy. Pulaski County weather is typical for Illinois, with highs averaging 90 °F during the summer months and lows averaging 26 °F during winter. On average, Pulaski County gets 47.9 inches of measurable precipitation in the form of rain, snow, or hail, which not only contributes to motor vehicle accidents, but also slip and falls, pedestrian accidents, and bicycle accidents.

Pulaski County has approximately 2,642 households with 43.6% of these households consisting of married couples and 27.3% with children under the age of 18.
