I have an automatic billpay setup through my bank so that every month my payments to Sallie Mae are guaranteed to arrive 3 days early, with my account number in the memo line. Sallie Mae has repeatedly not credited my account, charged late fees, and reported my account status to the credit bureau, despite the fact that I have spoken with more than a dozen people there explaining what’s happening. I was instructed to send proof of payment to Sallie Mae via fax at a number I was given by one of their employees. I faxed the paperwork, with my name and account number on it, and called a week later to check on the status. They said they had not received it so I double checked the fax number and re-sent it. Sallie Mae claims that they did not receive the information. For the past 3 months I have been getting collection calls three times a day, as early as 6:00 AM. The employees I speak with are rude, and have even accused me of lying. One employee suggested that I send proof of payment every day– as if I have the time and resources to do such a ridiculous thing. As of right now I am trying to get in touch with someone to e-mail the proof of payment, and I have a paper copy in the mail.
