Hi Theresa. This is common practice for debt collectors--they will find friends, family, and even acquaintances to try and get in touch with the debtor. You don't have to keep taking these calls, though, and I will discuss how to make the calls stop when I reach out to you. Thanks, Mike

Hi Trisha. It is amazing how these debt collectors can find friends, family, acquaintances, and even barely-acquaintances when they are seeking the debtor who owes them. All of this is legal unless they harass you, which then is a violation of your rights and you may have a case against them. I keep getting calls from phone number 8777135082 The person at this phone number says her name is Shireen Williams asking for me but she wants to know where my husband's ex-wife is. I keep telling them to stop harassing me because I have no idea where she is. How do I get them to stop calling me? This woman, Shireen Williams calls me from this phone number. The first time she called I let it go to voice mail. Then I called the number back and Shireen answered saying she was looking for Marsha Olivas, (to collect on a debt), who is my husband's ex-wife. We've been married for 18 years. I have no idea where Marsha is nor do I know how she got my number. I told her I wasn't Marsha and to stop calling me because I don't know where she is. That was 6 months ago. Now Shireen is calling me back wanting information I don't have (the whereabouts of Marsha Olivas. All I know is that she is somewhere in Prescott, AZ. But I didn't tell Shireen that.) The reason why my husband divorced Marsha was because she had problems with money. She thought that as long as she had checks in her checkbook she still had money in the bank. She may have a gambling problem. She is 10 years older than me. I don't know where these people got my number unless she falsified information and gave my number out to the people who loaned her money. I work a lot. I'm a crane operator. Most of the time I have to leave my cell phone on silent because I can't hear it anyway when I'm working. I saw your site when I looked up the phone number. It doesn't matter if I get a settlement or not. I just want to keep these people from harassing me and other people. If I had more time, I'd look up some laws on FCC and harassment. I took some law classes and paralegal studies in 1994. I've got an AA in Criminal Justice Studies and do pro bono legal research for places like legal aid. But my work pretty much keeps me busy now!
