What is RSG Group, LLC?

RSG Group, LLC is also known as Recovery Solution Group or simply RSG. They are a debt collection agency based in Milford, Delaware, specializing in recovering commercial debts. This debt collection agency provides both first and third-party debt management solutions.

On February 16, 2012, RSG Group was incorporated as a limited liability company (LLC). RSG is a member of the Restoration Industry Association (RIA) and has been accredited by the Better Business Bureau (BBB) since 2021. 

RSG Group currently has an A+ rating from the BBB and a rating of 4.35 out of 5 from 23 customer reviews. However, many of these positive reviews are from companies RSG worked with to collect a debt and not consumers with alleged outstanding debt. 

Complaints Filed Against RSG Group, LLC

Currently, 22 complaints have been filed against RSG with the BBB. Complaints mainly arise from consumers contacted by the agency for collection, though several are from customers who hired RSG for their services. 

Customer complaints include receiving phone calls before 8:00 a.m. on several occasions. RSG stated that this practice is against their policy in the follow-up, and the complaint was resolved. Another customer filed a complaint about a collection issue, where the consumer felt like RSG Group bullied them about monthly payments. The company resolved the complaint within a week of its filing. 

What Are My Rights if RSG Group, LLC Contacts Me?

All debt collection agencies are subject to regulations in how they operate. These laws are intended to protect consumer rights and limit harassment. 

Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA)

The FDCPA is a federal law passed in 1978 that protects consumers from abusive practices like harassment by debt collectors. This law outlines your rights during the debt collection process and details penalties debt collectors face for violating your rights. 

The FDCPA prohibits RSG Group, LLC and other debt collectors from:

• Calling you between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. local time
• Calling you at your workplace or on your cell phone unless you’ve permitted them to do so
• Calling you an unreasonable amount of times
• Communicating with you after you’ve hired a lawyer to handle your case
• Failing to notify you of your rights
• Misrepresenting the amount of debt you owe or falsely claiming you’ve committed a crime
• Misrepresenting themselves as an attorney, government representative, or credit report representative
• Stating that they will garnish, seize, or sell your property or wages to get you to take action
• Threaten arrest or that legal action if they do not intend to take legal action against you

This law protects consumers in every state. If RSG violates any of these rights, you may be entitled to monetary damages of $1,000.

Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA)

Consumers also receive protection under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1999, limiting how telemarketers can contact you. The TCPA prohibits robocalls placed using an automatic dialing system and a recorded message. 

Under this law, companies must also:

• Maintain a do-not-call list registry for their business and honor the national do-not-call registry
• Identify themselves, the company they’re representing, and the reason for their call when communicating with consumers
• Contact you by cell phone or text without getting your consent to do so first

Consumers who experience violations of the TCPA from RSG or others may be able to recover $500 of monetary damages for each infringement.
