I received a call from Navient a few months ago. The person identified himself as a federal employee and claimed that the government would come after me if I didn’t cooperate with him. He told me I had defaulted on my student loans and there were some options that would help me clear up this problem. I asked him about these options and he asked for some personal information which I gave. He then told me that I didn’t qualify for these options and that the personal information I just gave him will be used against me. He then told me to send x-amount of checks each month, which I could not afford. He said I had a week to think about it. I received persistent calls from Navient after that. I know this is harassment and a blatant deception.
