The incidence of bicycle accidents in 2015 has decreased from the prior year, but the incidence of fatal ones has increased by over 12 percent, according to the Bike and Walk Alliance. Safety is an obvious concern for bicyclists, but it seems that changes to implement some protections for bicyclists has not been enforced yet, or effectively. Unfortunately, this is especially true and common in urban areas where there is a concentrated population and more cars on the road. This is a tragic reality that is very close to some people, as they have lost loved ones due to bicycle accidents. Sometimes, these fatal bicycle accidents can be caused by clear negligence by the other party. In these cases, you may consider seeking justice for your loved one by claiming wrongful death.

Today, bicyclists have many more protective measures than ever before, but that does not stop accidents from occurring due to another’s negligence. Another driver driving alongside a city road may fail to yield to a bicycle crossing an intersection in their bicycle lane, or a bicyclist may even get rear-ended by a car and thrown off. Additionally, the injuries that the victim suffered can be worse than a car accident due to bicyclists having little to no protection on the road, besides a helmet. You should retain all medical records, police reports, or documents in regards to the accident to strengthen your case and maximize what you are awarded as a result.

It can be an unsettling thought to pursue a wrongful death case, however, you deserve the peace of mind that can result from it. When these types of negligent scenarios occur, the death of a loved one may be considered a wrongful death, and we are here to help you get justice for them and recover any damages that have been associated with it. Although money cannot fix your situation, it may help with the financial responsibility involved with it.
