Target Recalls Pajamas

A huge, voluntarily recall of children’s pajamas has just been announced. On January 15, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall, with the cooperation of Target Corporation: 560,000 sets of children’s pajamas sold at Target stores do not meet U.S. federal flammability standards for children’s sleepwear.

The pajamas could be a, burn hazard for children, says the CPSC; they do not meet federal flammability standards, because they do not meet the tight-fitting sizing requirements—this creates the burn hazard. So far, there have been no reported injuries around the recall, but the agency is warning parents to be aware of the risk. Recalled pajamas were sold in stores and online at Target.com from Aug. 2012 through Nov. 2012 at a price range of $8 to $13; the brands affected are Target Circo and Xhilaration. The pajamas are two-piece sets made of cotton or cotton/fleece, multiple sizes and designs are affected. Target offers more information, and product item numbers, on its website.

The CPSC and Target are recommending that consumers take the clothing out of children’s reach, and return it to Target for a full refund. If you have any questions or concerns can contact Target at (800) 440-0680, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. CT Monday through Friday, or online at www.target.com.
