If you or a loved one has sustained a herniated disk injury from an accident, contact Mike Agruss Law for a free consultation so we can help you recover from this experience and get fairly compensated.

Your spinal cord is made of 24 bones which are called vertebrae. In between these bones are intervertebral disks, which are flat, round structures made of tough cartilage on the outside and soft cartilage on the inside. These act as cushions between your bones and as a shock absorber, as well. A herniated disk is the result of a high-energy impact that injures the spine, such as a fall or a motor vehicle collision. This causes one or more of the disks to crack on the outside, tough cartilage part and allow the softer inner cartilage to protrude out of the disk’s perimeter.

These injuries can be extremely painful to deal with on a day-to-day basis due to the pressure against the outer tough cartilage and results in persistent lower back pain, known as sciatica. These injuries improve and recover on their own or with medical intervention. They can get better on their own by the immune system minimizing the size of the protruding portion of the disk in order to remedy the injury. The body could also absorb the water within the herniated disk to minimize its size and decrease pain.

In other cases, surgical intervention may be the recommended choice after assessing the injury in cases of extreme pain and some extent of disability. It all depends on the severity of the injury and its effects on you and your everyday life.

If another person caused your injuries, you can file a claim against them for monetary damages. Medical care for a herniated disk is not cheap, and it certainly is not cheap when it involves surgery or potential complications that you may have had to deal with. With our help, we can help you recover the costs of your medical bills, lost wages, and other damages that resulted from another person’s actions.
