A woman was injured in a freak accident in Rockford, Illinois, on August 14, 2013. She was driving east on IL Route 64 when an oncoming wide-load trailer lost a tire. The tire flew off, bounced up, and struck the car’s roof near the windshield. The woman apparently crouched down as she saw the tire coming toward her, but when it hit her car, it shattered the windshield and smashed in the roof, trapping her. Emergency workers freed her from the car and flew her by helicopter to hospital in Rockford.
